The Ogun State government is putting up a proper design and layout plan for the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway to address uneven development along the axis.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on land matters, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun who made this known today in Abeokuta while speaking during a media chat, affirmed that the present administration would not relent in its efforts to stem further uncontrolled development along the axis.

Mrs. Sokefun, who is also the Director-General of the Bureau of Lands noted that as a proactive and responsive government, the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led-administration had decided to address once and for all, the issue of non-conformity with the State’s regional plan of the axis, insisting that all development must conform with the regional plan in order to have an even development.

She added that to implement the design and planned layout appropriately, a cadastral mapping and zoning of the expressway would be embarked upon.

Speaking on the decision of the State Government to reinvigorate its Geographic Information System (GIS), Mrs. Sokefun disclosed that the need to meet the demands of modern day data gathering, storage and processing on land management was responsible for this to ensure accurate mapping, obtain concise pictures and depict land marks necessary for socio-economic development.

She explained further that the GIS will also facilitate up-to-date land administration and ease the processing of Certificate of Occupancy by eliminating the existing manual system and makes documentation an easy process.

She reiterated that the ultimate aim of the GIS project was to provide customized services which include data collection and digitalization of existing surveys, conversion of controls into digital format among others to facilitate easy transfer and exchange of geo-spatial data.
