Ms Olabisi Okuwobi, the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that, the young man killed himself by hanging.

She said he was said to have applied to the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun, but his name was not in the list of admitted candidates.

According to the police spokesman, the young man took his life earlier in January by strangulating himself with a rope tied to the ceiling fan in his father’s sitting room.

She said that the police had removed the body to Adeoyo State Hospital, Yemetu, Ibadan, for post-mortem examination.

She said further that the police had ordered full investigation into the matter.

The police also said that a teenager, Mariam Kehinde, was electrocuted at Omoniya Close, Iroko Village in Akinyele Local Government Area on January 19. She was said to be fetching water from a stream when a wire conducting electric current touched her bucket.
