Hebrews 10:25 has been used to try to convince people that they must not forsake going to church. In fact, it is the only Scripture in the New Testament that could remotely have been used in such a way. But it is wrong to use it this way.

The Greek and the context simply do not support it, and when we understand the true meaning of Hebrews 10:25, the entire idea of "going to church" as something we must do entirely falls apart.


The truth is that the ekklēsia (the word mistranslated as "church" in most English Bibles) is not something we go to; it is what we are. As Christians, we cannot forsake our assembly because we are always assembled before God. We are the assembly, the "called out" of Christ. (The literal meaning of ekklēsia is the "called out ones," but it was used by Greeks to refer to the people who were called out of the community to be members of the assembly.) Certainly, the Bible also speaks of the ekklēsia in a local sense as being in a city, according to (kata) houses or families, and as coming together (sunerchomai—literally, "come together".

But it is never spoken of as something apart from us that we go to, nor is our coming together locally ever spoken of as a duty.

In summary,
, Hebrews 10:25 tells us not to forsake the promise and blessed hope (verse 23 and Titus 2:13) of our gathering to Jesus Christ at His coming (2 Thessalonians 2:1), which is the custom of some. Anciently, the Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection (see Matthew 22:23).
Today, many who call themselves Christians, such as liberal theologians and full- or hyper-preterists, do not believe in a literal and future return of Jesus Christ and resurrection from the dead. Others who once had the name Christian also forsake their hope. Saying "my lord delayeth his coming" (Matthew 24:48) and "the resurrection is past already" (2 Timothy 2:18) are both errors. Hebrews 10:25 tells us that instead of forsaking the promise and hope, we are to be encouraging one another, and so much the more as we see the day of His return approaching.

David said, I am glad when they say let us go to d house of d Lord. there is always a place. but spiritual growth depends on d individual but can be influenced thru fellowship.

there is no command in scripture which says that a believer in Christ must attend a church building in order to worship God? This is true. Also, there are no examples of any follower of Christ going to a church building to worship God. They worshipped God by their obedience to Him in every area of life, every day of their lives. They did not worship Him by giving only one hour of their time every week to some temple made with hands.

A "Church" is basically a temple made with hands. Does God dwell in temples made with hands? Scripture tells us:

Acts 7:48, "Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"
Acts 17:24, "God...dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"

Keep in mind that the real question we seek to ask is not whether we are to worship, but how we are to worship. Perhaps the question is also where we are to do that. Are we able to do these things only in a building whose mortgage payments are being paid by a State-incorporated ecclesiastical institution, or may we obey them in our homes, or in a context of decentralized, informal, voluntary gatherings? The question before us is, need we "attend church?" Need we hear the "sermons" of special priests in order to obey the Biblical commands to exhort one another and discuss the Scriptures? Can we obey these commands if we only "attend church"?


Answer is no

O yes, there is no place that said you must enter a building to worship God but the Bible said in Heb 10:25 that we shld nt neglect the fellowship of believers. This is because, after salvation, there is spiritual growth and for you to experience one, u need fellowship. Fellowship helps to strengthen your faith when you rub minds together. I am not a pastor, just a believer but on my bed, I receive info from God, so I believe without doubt that there is God. You only need to have a personal relationship with God be4 u can know of His existence. Thanks
