Does Each Bible Text Have A Fixed Interpretation? by charlsecy4(m): 10:32am On Nov 18, 2012
I was with a friend last Sunday. He said that the meaning of each verse in the Bible is non-specific, that it depends on "AS PER REVEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT" to the reader. He was like saying that two or more individuals could read a passage in the Scripture, and the Holy Spirit would reveal different meanings to the individuals.

So, let's discuss: Does Each Bible Text Have A Fixed Interpretation, or Does It Depend On What The Holy Spirit Reveals To The Reader?

Based on context it has only one meaning.

But when you relate with the Holy Spirit He can reveal more and different meanings to the individual

So the bible writers were catholic,David who wrote Psalm was a catholic or Job who wrote the book of Job was a catholic.
Your claim is laughable.

I think it's the Catholic Church that complied the first Bible! If not for the Catholic Church, 95% of the world would have been Muslim.

Though collections of sacred writings, varying in extent, existed in the various local Churches of Christendom, the canon or official list of Scripture was only compiled by the Church toward the end of the fourth century—at Hippo in 393, Carthage in 397, whence it was sent to Rome for confirmation in 419. The Bible may be called the notebook of the Church, and she has always claimed to be the guardian, exponent, and interpreter of it. . . .

By these Councils, the Bible we see today came into be. These Councils are Catholic. How do we know? Well, St. Ignatius of Antioch called the Christian Church Catholic. Let me quote him, "Where there is Jesus Christ, there is the Catholic Church."

The OT that was approved by the Church was the Septuagint the Greek translation of the OT. The Bible later on was translated into Latin by St. Jerome. The Latin Vulgate was its name. It included the deutronacanonical books, like Tobit, Maccebees 1 and 2, etc.

It was not until the Reformation that Protestants remove those books. The books which early Christians have read.

NO PARTS OF THE BIBLE IS OPEN TO PRIVATE INTERPRETATIONS. THE ANSWER TO EACH VERSE IS INSIDE THE BIBLE IF YOU FOLLOW IT PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT. AS SUCH, EVERYONE SHOULD BE ON THE SAME PAGE. NO VERSE HAS 3 DIFFERENT MEANINGS TO 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE UNLESS THOSE 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE ARE USING THEIR OWN VAIN OPINIONS

FOR EXAMPLE, A FEW DAYS AGO A VERSE WAS QUOTED REVELATION 12 VS 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

NATURALLY PEOPLE GAVE DIFFERENT ANSWERS AS TO WHOM THE MAN-CHILD WAS. THEY WERE COMING OUT OF THEIR OWN VAIN OPINIONS. BUT IF THEY HAD GONE PRECEPT FOR PRECEPT IN THE BIBLE ( OF COURSE THIS IS DIFFICULT AND REQUIRES KNOWING THE ENTIRE BIBLE ), THEN THEY WOULD HAVE FOUND OUT WHO THE MAN CHILD WAS

REVELATION 19 VS 5 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS

THE COMMON THREAD IN THE PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT BEING >>> HE SHALL RULE ALL NATIONS WITH A ROD OF IRON. and with that we know the man child is the king of kings and lord of lords >>>>CHRIST

The first step is to realize that the bible is not a holy book neither is it "the word of god". Its a book that you can read and make whatever meaning of as suits you.

As much as will claim to be Bible scholars will know that no one verse in the Bible has a fixed meaning. The word of God is new every morning. If you really are in communion with the Holy Spirit, He will always teach you something new even if you read the Word a thousand times. Get this book by Benny Hinn and read- Good morning Holy Spirit- you wil undertand moreThe word of God is new every morning. It is dynamic.

The fact that you are hiding under the keyboard to type whatever you like does not give you the freedom to insult the WORD of God. Even if you don't fear man but fear God. There is no judge or lawyer that will deliver you out of his wrath on judgement day. So be careful.

Ever noticed most of the bible we're reading in English and other languages apart from Hebrews have lost their true meaning? Hebrew is the correct interpretation of the holy bible, the rest has been manipulated to reflect each denomination beliefs and doctrines and to suit the kinda life style we living nowadays..... I mean whats the meaning of "Youth bible"? "Contemporary english bible"? etc. cool cool

Excuse me in christian context, esp with respect new testament, Peter acknowledged its interpretation is a big challenge(2Pet 3:16) and proferred a way out ie through the interpretation of the church(2Peter 1:20) guide by D holy spirit(16:12-13) since it is with spirit it was made in the first place. With common sense a copyright owner is the best interpreter of his works, if not the fallout will be exactly what Peter said in 2Pet 3:16 ie churches mushrooming with deleterious consequences against the will of God(Jn 17:20-21)

Most of D New testament was written in Greek so almost all pastors who hardly understand English talk more of Greek interpreting bible, is simply taking innocent people 2 hell. Even ordnary people interpreting it spell doom esp 4 protestants who pick & choose doctrines 4 demselves
Re: Does Each Bible Text Have A Fixed Interpretation? by SELFWORTH: 2:33pm On Nov 18, 2012
No reader has the right to impose his own ideas on the text. Scripture itself clearly teaches that the only meaning of a text is what the Holy Spirit intended when He inspired the human writer (2 Pet. 1:20-1).

It follows that every text has only one correct interpretation. If two readers disagree on what it means, at least one of them is necessarily wrong. Perhaps both are wrong. How do we discover the one correct interpretation?

We must consult the author Himself, the Holy Spirit. We must allow Him to teach us.

every verse should be interpreted in contest, every chapter should be interpreted in light of the ones that precedes it and the ones that are after it.

A plain reading of Genesis indicates that when God created Adam in His own rational image, He gave Adam the gift of intelligible speech, thus enabling him to communicate objectively with his creator (and with other human beings) via sharable linguistic symbols called words (Genesis 1:26).

God sovereignly chose to use human language as a medium of revelational communication.

If the primary purpose of God's originating of language was to make it possible for Him to communicate with human beings, as well as to enable human beings to communicate with each another, then it must follow that He would generally use language and expect man to use it in its literal, normal, and plain sense.

This view of language is a prerequisite to understanding not only God's spoken word but His written Word (Scripture) as well.

The Bible as a body of literature exists because human beings need to know certain spiritual truths to which they cannot attain by themselves. Thus these truths must come to them from without - that is, via objective, special revelation from God (Deuteronomy 29:29)

And this revelation can only be understood if one interprets the words of Scripture according to God's original design for language - that is, according to the ordinary, plain, literal sense of each word.

Seeking the Author's Intended Meaning

Instead of superimposing a meaning on the biblical text, the objective interpreter seeks to discover the author's intended meaning (the only true meaning). One must recognize that what a passage means is fixed by the author and is not subject to alteration by readers. Meaning is determined by the author; it is discovered by readers.

Our goal must be exegesis (drawing the meaning out of the text) and not eisogesis (superimposing a meaning onto the text).
Re: Does Each Bible Text Have A Fixed Interpretation? by SELFWORTH: 2:49pm On Nov 18, 2012
Seeking the biblical author's intended meaning necessitates interpreting Bible verses in context.

Every word in the Bible is part of a verse, and every verse is part of a paragraph, and every paragraph is part of a book, and every book is part of the whole of Scripture. No verse of Scripture can be divorced from the verses around it. Interpreting a verse apart from its context is like trying to analyze a Rembrandt painting by looking at only a single square inch of the painting, or like trying to analyze Handel's "Messiah" by listening to a few short notes.

The context is absolutely critical to properly interpreting Bible verses. In interpreting Scripture, there is both an immediate context and a broader context. The immediate context of a verse is the paragraph (or paragraphs) of the biblical book in question. The immediate context should always be consulted in interpreting Bible verses.

The broader context is the whole of Scripture. The entire Holy Scripture is the context and guide for understanding the particular passages of Scripture.

We must keep in mind that the interpretation of a specific passage must not contradict the total teaching of Scripture on a point.

Individual verses do not exist as isolated fragments, but as parts of a whole.

The exposition of these verses, therefore, must involve exhibiting them in right relation both to the whole and to each other. Scripture interprets Scripture.

Sorry, your comments deserves a basic bible study lesson even if its on NL.

Who Wrote the Holy Bible? The short answer is the Holy Spirit.

This is the answer the Bible gives, and it is also a confessional answer for Christians. This is also the reason why it is called the Holy Bible, the source is divine.

The more involved answer is that various men (and perhaps a woman or two) recorded what God had said to them. The Letter to the Hebrews in the New Testament begins by declaring "In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets; but in these last days He has spoken to us by a Son?" (Heb 1:1-2a). The Son here, through whom God has spoken most clearly, is the life of Jesus of Nazareth who is the Christ (Greek for lord) or Messiah (Aramaic and Hebrew term for someone anointed to do a task).

So to answer your question, God has spoken thorough prophets directly, and indirectly, through scribes, psalmists, and others who were under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
