All barcelona spanish players, asides iniesta and david villa are catalans. They've got a great team, the catalans. Xavi, fabregas, puyol, pique, jordi alba, pedro, valdes just to name a few. The catalans have got a great squad.

This was just after we defeated the Spanish national team after France 98. So they wanted revenge by all means and requested for this friendly and the then NFA obliged them. But the team that represented Nigeria was not our first team but a team B. While the Catalunyans came with a team that comprised about 80% of the Spanish national team. So they did not really play the real super eagles back then but just a national team B. Thus the bottom whooping! grin

Even if we play spain nko? dem big pass team wey people dey play? haba! i hate it when Nigerians look down on themselves. we beat them in U.S.A 94 when they have better payers wso hy cant we do it again? they are very beatable jor. if they are unbeatable they would ve been lifting all the world cup trophies till date and not Brazil. this same spanish team played panama in an international friendly the same day we were teaching the Venezuelan team how to play football with our 2nd team and what was the scores? goal-less draw. i bet before the match against panama most Nairalanders nay Nigerians would ve predicted 10-nil in favor of Spain. but the results proved otherwise, abeg with our full squad the game can go either way. in super eagles i trust

Haba na! The Okochas, finidis, Amunikes, Ikpebas, Babayaros e.t.c of that era did not play in that match now. Meanwhile most of the players from Spain came from the Catlunian region. Maybe 80% is an exaggeration sha.

I still remember this match. I was shell shocked at the level of Thrashing. Ganiyu Ajide was getting skimmed all over the place by Jordi Cruyff (Johan Cruyff's son). Please I appeal to the NFF to save the nation from a big disappointment.

I say, I still remember this match. It was shown in the evening. The NTA network news was postponed. See mouth we were making. The Catalunya team were made of several unknown players.

When the whooping started, it was like horror film. To make matters worse, Okocha was just laughing on the bench. cool

How can they say 80% Spanish side. See Celades, he was on the bench for Spain in the World Cup. Jordi Cruyff, I never knew him before that game. Raul Tamudo and Xavi Hernandez came to Nigeria 1999 the next year after this match ie they were U20. Most of the Catalunya players could never play for the Spanish National side then. cool
