Meni Jonathan, the president’s half brother is dead. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, has confirmed the death of President Goodluck Jonathan’s half brother, Meni Jonathan, at the Aso Villa Clinic in Abuja. In an e-mail response to PREMIUM TIMES enquiry, Mr. Abati confirmed the death, saying, “May his soul rest in peace.” The death of Meni Jonathan caused mixed feelings at the Presidential Villa, Abuja as the death occurred same day the President turned 55. Meni Jonathan passed away at the Aso Villa clinic at about 11:45a.m. as arrangements were being made to move him to the National Hospital, Abuja. A presidency source revealed that Meni Jonathan flew into Abuja with the president last week, after the president went to see his house in Otueke, Bayelsa State. The source said the deceased ‘seemed fit’ as at Sunday. The deceased reportedly served as the head of Otueke Council of Chiefs before his death. May his soul rest in peace |
