CJN swears in Baulkachuwa as Acting President of AppealCourt
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mariam Aloma–Muktar hasurged the new Acting President ofthe Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Baulkachuwa to be just and fair inher dealings and shun any urge toshow bias or preferential treatment.
Justice Aloma-Mukhtar made the appeal on Friday while swearing-in Justice Baulkachuwa as the new Acting President of the Appellate Court, making her the first female president of the appeal court though in acting capacity.
The CJN urged the new appointee to always attend to her statutory duties while performing her administrative duty as the head of the appellate court.
Justice Ifeoma Jombo-Ofo, who was leftout of the swearing-in ceremony for the last set of Appeal Court judges on the 5 th of November, was also sworn-inby the CJN.
Despite being appointed alongside 12 other judges of the Court of appeal, Justice Ifeoma Jombo–Ofo’s appointment will take effect from November 23rd, 2012 and not November 4th, 2012, when her colleagues were sworn in.
Justice Aloma–Muktar advised both women to be fair in all their dealings.
