The crowd at the venue of the 2012 Comptroller-General of Customs’ conference in Katsina applauded as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar knelt down to greet his former boss, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Atiku and Obasanjo, who served as vice president and president of Nigeria respectively, between 1999-2007, had an estranged relationship during the last lap of their second term in office.

Both men were among a retinue of VIPs invited to the opening of the week long Comptroller-Generals’ conference held at the newly inaugurated auditorium of Katsina State University.

Obasanjo, who arrived ahead of Atiku, was seated next to second republic President Shehu Shagari and the Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade.

Atiku, who arrived nearly 40-minutes after his former boss, first greeted the Emir of Gwandu, Muhammad Iliyasu; Emir of Katsina, Abdulmimini Usman; the Ooni and Shagari who were seated at the podium.

When he got to Obasanjo, the former vice president knelt down and bowed his head to greet his former boss.

The delighted crowd followed the mild drama with applause.

Earlier, Vice President Namadi Sambo, who represented President Goodluck Jonathan, had inaugurated the 1,500 capacity auditorium of the Katsina State University, venue of the conference.

Two former heads of state, top traditional rulers from different geo-political zones in Nigeria, former Comptroller-Generals of Customs and Customs chiefs from the Africa region attended the opening event.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, delivered a goodwill message, where he challenged the Customs to go beyond its statutory role of combating smuggling of goods.

Tambuwal listed other roles of the service to include revenue collection, trade facilitation and border protection.

He urged the service to collaborate with other relevant agencies in the country to improve their services.

He pledged that the National Assembly would support the ongoing review of the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) to enable the service discharge its function optimally

No be Atiku? That black and very cunning man? Y'all remember what happened between him and GEJ on the PDP primary election day @ the Eagle Square? Did you recollected how he blasted GEJ, calling him a failed, clueless and a confused president? I was amazed to see him holding GEJ hand in hand in one of the PDP functions in Sokoto state again. Did you remember how he betrayed, Asiwaju Tinubu? I am not surprised at his fake and chameleonian stoops to greet Obasanjo. 2015 is drawing near. The rest is for wise ones... GBAM!!!

Atiku stooped but his mind slapped OBJ.

Stooping is not a sign of good moral, Turaki only want the attention of the press. Which he got

Animals wear agbada. Animals put on tie o.

The day nigerians will realise how destructive animals like obj and atiku are,is the day they will be free from the heavy shackles and that will be the day they stop praying and save their hard earned monies the men of god con artists.

If you had done this years ago, another wouldn't have taken your place. there are three people you must never fight in life one of them is your boss especially when he is still holding power. David never tried that against Saul and GEJ learnt from the vulture reputed to being a patient bird- he never struggled to ascend the throne even when it waz obvious Yaradua was as good as dead. But you were the smart aboki who is doing last what he should have done first.

Let me recommend two books of wisdom for you: one is the holy Bible and the other is 48 Laws of power by Robert Green. They will teach both how to be smart and humble though the later will induce craftiness and sometimes false humility but you will be exposed to some inherent practical wisdom

Took Atiku 5 solid years to realise that OBJ na original baba isale in Nigerian political matters. This is the second time in a week that Atiku has showed up where Baba Iyabo attended a public occasion.

The man may have his shortcomings but you can't take certain things away from him and one is his political relevance in this country. He has forged so many alliances and is even more respected politically than the former power brokers such as IBB e.t.c

Atiku has never hidden his respect 4 Obj afta d latter dealt wt him whl they were in power. Am nt an Atiku fan, neither am i hausa/fulani bt quote me anywhere; Atiku would have won d 2011 PDP primaries if nt cos of Obj n Sule Lamido.
As for those saying Atiku betrayed Tinubu, i ask; just as Ribadu also betrayed Tinubu?
1. Atiku left d ACN when he discovered dat Tinubu ws using his connections & finance 2 further hs personal political interests.
2. All d judges in Tinubu's pocket 2day, he inherited 4rm Atiku.
3. D ACN hqtr in Wuse zone 6(abuja) is Atikus house.
4.D votes recorded by d ACN in adamawa's last election cannot be divorced 4rm Atiku.
We call ibb maradona bt Atiku is Pele, messi n ronaldo put 2geda. Ds man knws hw 2 be a nigerian politician.
DISCLAIMER; I DO NOT N WILL NOT SUPPORT HIS CANDIDATURE COS LYK GEJ, HE IS A CHIP OF D OLD BLOCK.
