2009: Ad revenue - $764M; Payments, other fees - $13M
2010: Ad revenue - $1,868M; Payments, other fees - $106M
2011: Ad revenue - $3,154M; Payments, other fees - $557M

Presumably, over time FB will aspire to further diversify its revenue sources (indeed that's the reflected trend), adding third-party ad-serving and search into the mixture, both ripe markets in which they might have a natural advantage.

Though The figures above are greedily high, they dont also explain mark zuckerberg's wealth.
Zuckerberg is worth $16B early this year, he had run facebook for 9 years only (2003 - 2012).
$16B after 9 years only, means he was making nearly $2B per year personally.
This conflicts their IPO figures above! So where does Zuck Make his money?
