On a wedding day,the bride ALWAYS puts on white probably because that's d most happiest day of her life.

Well then,who knows why the GROOM(most times) wear BLACK?

Is it compulsory for Groom to wear black on a wedding day? What does (could) BLACK signify?

may because black suit means respect and being responsible.

Cos if d bride put on a white gown, black is a colour that can match it.
But recently, I v seen purple, white, green, blue etc colours of suits & gowns worn by couples.

This started somewhere around the 19th century, when men began wearing dark colored formal wear to draw attenton to their wives brightly colored clothing. This became the manly and fashionable thing to do because in centuries prior mens clothing had became so loud and colorfull that the ladies were not getting noticed.

This became the standard for western evening formal wear, and thus the standard for formal weddings.

I won't call it the norm, but I would say it's more common than otherwise.

But then, I have seen grooms jump into some flawless looking white suits and really so stylish.
