Hi guys, please what is the reason behind turning off our cellphone while boarding a plane?

Cell phones operate on radio signals which may act has an obstruction to the pilot since some features on the plane used for communication also acts on radio signals.

But why must one obstruct the other since the signal is wireless and each is supposed to be independent?

Each radio wave operates at certain frequency n merging of two frequencies positively will increase d resultant frequency while negatively will decrease. INTERFERENCE.
This could cause alteration and could affect the functionality of the plane, thereby endangering lives.
