INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TROPICAL AGRICULTURE (IITA) JOB OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT INTERNAL & EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT 13th December 2012 The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the position of AFLASAFE- Engineering Supervisor at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan. Position Duties Qualification and Experience AFLASAFE - Engineering Supervisor Short-term renewable contract Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties: • Ensure that all work is carried out to: IITA’s requirement; industry standards and specifications • Confer with Aflasafe Engineer, FMS and Pathology with contractors as to the preparation and interpretation of plans and specifications; • Measure and sample all building materials going into the project and monitor the quality of workmanship, materials and methods; ensure adherence to all building codes, plans, specifications and allotted budget; • Assist in the review and interpreting of plans, specification, and design submitted by contractors, architects, or engineer; • Undertake visual inspections and produce regular written reports and logs, recording progress (or lack of), the numbers of trades employed, weather conditions, visitors to the site, drawings received, deliveries, instructions and details of significant events. Produce comprehensive reports with description and photographic evidence of site quality. • Implement health and safety rules within the confines of the project and bring any observe shortfalls to the attention of the appropriate authorities. • Ensure that construction work schedules are maintained; • BSC or HND in civil engineering, building construction or related qualification with a (4) years post-qualification working experience. • Professional Membership within a building/construction related professional body is desirable The ideal candidate must • Demonstrate experience at a technical level in commercial engineering and/or construction. • Demonstrate broad knowledge of materials, trades, methods and legal requirements associated. • Be Imaginative, Logical and problem solving with good interpersonal and team working skills. • Posses good verbal, report writing and general communication skills. • Be honest ,vigilant and make sure work materials meet the required standards REMUNERATION: We offer highly competitive salary with equally attractive fringe benefits and excellent working conditions in a pleasant campus environment.
