If u disagree start by telling us how many kilowatts of electricty was generated in thse administrations I mentioned as againt population growth during their reign lets compare.
thank u my brother u just spoke my mind.4000mw is owkay for a strt.

Are we so poor in expectation that we celebrate mediocrity

Please, FG, you know the megawatts needs of Nigeria; provide it or completely outsource it to those who are honest enough to give us. We have spent trillions of =N= and nothing to show for it and some people are celebrating 4350mw? Shame!!!

Gbam......end of story, FG should not come and tell us every now and then that we have hit this or that
they know what we need.....when they get there, they shld holla us and stop deceiving and disturbing us.

This is an insult to Nigerians no doubt. we arent inventing anything at all either are we introducing any new tech. Even with the so called generation, power is still worse today hen compared to when barth was on seat.
As at 2007, this was going on in china. PDP is a curse no doubt:

China building more power plants

China is now building about two power stations every week, the top climate change official at the UK Foreign Office, John Ashton, has said.

Let us wait until the dormant users switch back to PHCN source and see how the whole celebrated 4,350MW get wiped off and we go back to square one.

Why do we indulge in celebrating mediocrity in this country this much?

I experience exactly the same thing yesterday night, infact some of my electronics got damaged, we hardly have light whenever PHCN restore the light is always on low voltage.

Nigeria is fvcked when it comes to power generation and supply.from the way people write as to when power is on or off clearly indicate that there is no planning when it comes to power rationing.for how long are we going to continue suffering in darkness.they generate 4000mw and its something to celebrate on.yet d people dont feel d 4000mw.the country makes me weak when i see, read and experience all this happening.

Some of you are funny gan! Where did you do your survey to determine what Lagos or Nigeria needs. How many industries does Nigeria have compared to south Africa? We will need a lot of mega watts as we develop as a nation uear to year, but as at this moment, we don't need that much power. But as new industries and infrastruture kicks in, more powwer will be required. Lagos is the state suffering the most right now though. Most other states in the south west and south south are enjoying relatively good poer supply.

Another issue is the fact that the power generated is not optimally distributed because of the failure of the discos. That was probably one area Prof Nnaji excelled. He was able to put the discos on their toes. The local discos and their administraors are the biggest saboteurs of power in Nigeria. Especially the district offices in Lagos. They are a terrible bunch! I can't wait for the new discos to fully take over and function!

lost pope, dem dey enjoy the poer wey retardeen give them well well

Re: Power Generation Peaks At 4,350MW by Peterwins(m): 8:05pm On Dec 19, 2012
Recently, I listened to a "professional" in the power/energy sector on radio who said that our current transmission infrastructure cannot transmit/evacuate more than 4000MW. So no matter what we generate without adequate transmission capability the excess MW above 4000MW becomes a waste.

He even mentioned that transco calls them sometimes to reduce the amount of MW generated at a particular power plant he once worked as a result of inadequate transmission capability.

Hence, increase in power generation without corresponding transmission and distribution capacity will not make a significant improvement to most public power consumers.

I currently reside in an area with less than 35% of steady public power supply. Those enjoying improvement in steady public power supply must really be having a good time.

@Peterwins: that is correct. The distribution and transmission infrastructure has to be upgraded.
Re: Power Generation Peaks At 4,350MW by Peterwins(m): 9:02pm On Dec 19, 2012
I wish there could be a new and cost effective technology that could change the power sector dynamics in this country. Nigerians have really suffered from epileptic electricity supply.

Solar power technology seems to be the way out for individuals but the one-off acquisition cost is not pocket friendly for the majority in Nigeria. You may spend an average of about N120,000 to purchase the solar panel, batteries and inverter to power simple household appliances.

CNG (compressed natural gas) is another alternative but.......

24 hour electricity supply shouldn't be a big deal for a country blessed with so much energy resources.
