Who asked this guy to narrate these stories? Ethnocentricism is surely a big disease, sadly, no cure has been found for it.

Quit being tribalistic. Make a name for yourself like your 'Ibo' brothers have done and stop resting on their acheivements.

NB: Yorubas have their share of history too, you probably don't know.

nollywood20: The Yorubas have always set the pace in mass literacy and preservation of their cultural heritage.
The Igbos have a lot to learn from the Yorubas.
That's just your opinion.
You are entitled to it.

Try to be humble.why the ibo not used by the foreigner.

We have a lot to learn from each other but not in this case because the newspaper was founded by a foreigner.

H was added to make Yoruba learning/classes easier.

Originally, H is NOT a Yoruba alphabet, that's why H is hard for us to pronounce for us.

Richfella: I don't know what is so impressive about resurrecting a long dead newspaper from the museum.

When other offline newspapers are losing sales and everyone is going for news online. I want to see how they will thrive.

They will strive cuz many people of Yoruba descent will buy it simply cuz it is ''Originality''........Oduduwa!!!

Stop it. H was part of the Yoruba alphabet right from the beginning. Way back since Ajayi Crowther wrote the the first Yoruba dictionary in 1843. Besides, words like hàn, halẹ̀, hù, hámọ́, hó have always been written with h.

Ikwere fist son: d fist nigerian paper publishd by a british man.but d truly fist nigerian paper publishd by a nigerian is rt hon dr nnamdi azikiwes west afrikan pilot

The first newspaper published by a nigerian is Herbert Macaulay's Lagos Daily News (first published circa 1920). Herbert Macaulay also established the first political party in Nigeria, the Nigerian National Democratic Party (NNDP).

Herbert Macaulay's opponents (Sir Adeyemo Alakija and others) established the Lagos Daily Times (later known as the Daily Times, Nigeria's longest running newspaper) on June 6th 1925. Its original print run was from 1925-c2002.

Nnamdi Azikiwe established the West African Pilot on Nov 22nd 1937.

Herbert Macaulay was also the first president of the NCNC.

The NNDP was the sole political party. However, some (especially the younger generation) felt that it was not militant enough and that NNDP members had become too comfortable, so they established the Nigerian Youth Movement (NYM). Chief Obafemi Awolowo was a member of the NYM.

That's how the adversarial relationship between Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe began (NNDP/NCNC vs NYM/AG).

This is a great effort by The Nigeria Union of Jounarlists, Ogun state council. The newspaper was established by the missionary, Reverend Henry Townsend, according to him was created to educate the Egba people and the Yorubas at large. Before he started publishing political issues, press historians said the mission of the newspaper was purely evangelistic, anti-slavery and philantrophic. These, of course, are good things. I hope this newspaper still gets to educate the public and should fight for the rights of the public too.
Welcome back Iwe Irohin. I know its a while that you have been back now but 140 years of demise is a pretty long time. Anyone could have bet that you were gone forever.
So welcome back once more.

I hope this is intended to serve as a means of sensitizing the wider range of Yoruba people and also spreading/intensifying the Yoruba nationalism that recently re-emerged.
