What Should I Do With My Life? by bambuzz88: 9:03pm On Dec 23, 2012
Moses was so lucky! It’s hard to
deny the existence of something
bigger than yourself, when there’s a
freaking burning bush talking directly
to you! And then, as if that wasn’t
enough, he walks away from the
mountain with the exact message that
he’s supposed to give carved in
stone—Biblical CliffsNotes! If only I
could get the boxwood shrubs outside
to bust out some stonemasonry for all
of us, so we could have a better idea
of what exactly we’re supposed to
be doing!
Well, it is possible—burning bushes,
or at least contact with something
higher—but, right now, I want to talk
about our linear minds and their
incessant need to always be doing
something.
We live in a world of anxiety. If
we’re not working towards
something, we assume that we’re
wasting away. Not the case. Our 24-
hour news cycle world has convinced
us that something has to be happening
at every waking moment. In doing so, it
has stripped us of our ability to just
relax.
Yet, taking a step back, sitting quietly,
and just imagining and feeling into the
various potentials of our future is
still the best way to “get things
done.” We’re so busy running on
the hamster wheel, that often, we
don’t even notice that we’re not
going anywhere.
I’ve been trying to take 15-minutes
every morning, where I turn on some
binaural brainwave beats, and just
zone out (or in, as is sometimes the
case). I’ve also started using the
750 Words platform to just mind dump.
For 15-20 minutes everyday, I open up
750 Words and just go stream-of-
consciousness. I literally type
whatever intuitive thought comes into
my mind without even thinking about it.
A lot of times it is complete garbage
nonsense, but every so often, I land
on something that I realize I need to
explore.
Today I simply closed my eyes, asked
my higher-self what I should be doing,
and then started typing whatever
came to me. I find its helpful to
answer myself in the third person, so
that I can allow myself, or something
higher, to be objective with me.
Here’s what I taught myself, today:
As you are aware, there is nothing
that you HAVE to do. If you would find
joy in doing anything, then by all
means do that. But, we are here to tell
you that there is never a linear
pattern that must be followed to get
the things that you desire.
It is your desire and the belief that
those desires are manifesting that
brings them to you, not any type of
action. If we were in your physical
shoes, we would spend our mornings
imagining. We would feel into all of the
potentials available to us and then
focus—feel—into the potentials that
most please us.
So, often, in your physical body, you
get into an unwanted situation and
THEN you say, I want something else.
Well, that is not the right time to ask.
You already have momentum moving in
the other direction. It is good that you
are aware that something you do not
like is happening, though. It gives you
a barometer of where your point of
attraction is currently at. Instead of
waiting until after you’ve jumped
out of the plane to say you don’t
want to be falling, try pre-paving your
days before the SPLAT is inevitable.
You will find that when you are joyful,
even when it seems silly because
you’re just thinking about something
that your linear mind would say
“isn’t real” then you’ll find that
life becomes much more fun. It will be
easy, once you are focused on being
joyful, as opposed to focusing on the
things that might bring you joy.
You are already living a perfect life.
There is nothing more that you have
to do. But, it is sometimes FUN to do
something, so let that be your guide. If
something is going to bring you true
joy, then pursue it. After you’ve
finished, or even while you’re
partaking in the activity, take a pulse
of the situation. Is it making you
joyful? Is there something that you
could do, or not do, that would make it
more joyful? Do that. Or do nothing
and just feel into what joy feels like.
As you make your dominant thought
one of joy, you will no longer have
need for questions like, “What
should I do?” because the answer is
always the same. Seek joy.
I’ve come to realize that the answer
to just about any question I have can
be easily found just by quieting my
mind and asking my higher-self.
Usually the answer is somewhere
along the lines of, “Quit the hustle
and bustle and just enjoy the ride.”
Now, when I feel like I should be doing
something, I just take a moment,
breathe deeply in, and ask myself,
what will make me happy in this
moment? Then, I do that.
