EducationRe: 1972 Article Where South West Students Opposed Quota System In Admissions by 1144AK(m): 10:28am On Jan 17
Is there no form of merit even in the quota system?

I don’t think there is a simple right or wrong here. This is open to debate, as there are pros and cons to consider, and we ought to be conscious of how we frame tribal narratives.

Even in a meritocratic system, every tribe should have a chance; I don't believe the genetic lottery favors any specific group. Even within a single tribe, there are always outliers.

Same Obi ran away from Atiku in 2023 in Pdp only to come n meet him again in ADC

What has changed
Exactly guy, poor strategic planning/thinking.... Always running on emotion....
PoliticsRe: 2027: I Will Step Down For No One - Atiku by 1144AK(m): 8:04am On Jan 07
Why did Peter Obi not run for a senatorial seat to transform Anambra and produce results that would surpass Lagos?

That would have shown Nigerians that he is indeed a "correct leader." He has been given many opportunities to prove he is a transformative leader, but rather than demonstrating his leadership ideologies, he focuses on the opposition.

Look at the state of the Labour Party today; I don't see him as someone with great leadership acumen.

You are wrong.
Budgets are not compared in such manner.
The UK has a higher wage system and would need a bigger budget by a larger factor.
There are countries that operate a decent healthcare system with lesser budget.

Calling into the discussion the wasted resources by politician on foreign treatment.

While you have chosen to be the devils advocate and continually spill vile rhetoric on this platform, the truth that corruption is our albatross will always prevail.
It's approx. 50% that is spent on wages, Oga, not "by a larger factor" as you want to make it seem.

Instead of addressing the root cause of brain drain, they are looking for shortcuts. I thought there were military hospitals that could employ specialist doctors; what became of that initiative? Alternatively, they could sponsor soldiers who have the intellectual capacity to successfully pursue medical training at any of the current medical schools.

Something the government should work on is allowing JAMB candidates to apply to multiple universities (at most 4) to reduce the number of talented high school student jamb scores wasted every year by competitive admission bottlenecks. The existing universities should also be fully equipped and expanded.

These are some measures , apart from poor remuneration and corruption in Government hospitals/institutions.

Kobojunkie:
Wrong! It is not always about convenience, as, again, if you googled it, you would see that a lot of women struggle to make enough milk to feed their babies, and so having that extra help available goes a long way. Babies need to be fed more frequently than grown children, and having that backup goes a long way. undecided
Some women, not alot of women.... Data doesn't support your assertion...

As I said, visit Google for the many other reasons why many mothers find they are unable to produce enough milk for their babies. undecided
It's mostly higher SES women who give their babies formulas rather than breast milk for the purpose of convenience and because they can afford to do so.

We are talking about a balanced meal— not eating a mound of eba and a tiny piece of meat or drinking pap with a small piece of moimoi— at least 3 times a day, each day to get that moving in a way that can adequately nourish the baby, provided there are no other problems. undecided

Anyway, you can check out Google to find out reasons why mothers from poverty backgrounds tend not to produce enough milk for their babies and end up needing to resort to using canned options. undecided
This is not true at all, except in extreme cases(like In a famine)..

Be sincere, how much do you think she would need to feed properly?

Depending on location, I have seen families of 3-4 that feed fine on 50-70k per month, even less (though in the North).

That’s true. This present generation prefer baby mamas and single mothers like that isn’t more expensive than even marriage. Always focusing on money. That’s why we few men that really leads their home but thinks they can solve everything with excess money. That’s why we have lots of gays and immoral children in the society.
Exactly, a lot of young people are falling for the lies...

The only thing I am against is giving birth to lots of children that an individual can't train properly... Both parents should be heavily involved in the upbringing of that child, especially for the first 16 years.

You think breast milk is unlimited in supply? For women who are malnourished— yes, women have to feed very well to produce milk —, breast milk cannot be of much help for their babies. huh
Then she should feed well.... Breast milk remains the best... That's what the baby needs .....
FamilyRe: Someone Earning 100k Naira, Should Not Consider Marriage by 1144AK(m): 11:23pm On Nov 29, 2025
SpencerForbes:
The focus shouldn't solely be on the ₦100k income, but rather on the financial intelligence and compatibility of the couple. Marriage doesn't mean you must start procreating immediately; if both partners are smart, they will draft a strategic blueprint first. For instance, the wife can engage in low-capital ventures like cloth vendoring at her workplace, while the husband manages a side hustle like a POS business. If they exercise delayed gratification and wait just two years before having a child, they could easily build a financial buffer. If they manage to save a combined ₦60k monthly out of their income, in two years they would have accumulated over ₦1.4 million. That is significant seed capital to scale a small business or secure housing before the real expenses of a baby arrive.

If we strictly followed the view that you need millions to start, many successful people today who started on meager ₦40k salaries would never have made it. Marriage is like a business partnership where the first three years are the 'stabilization phase,' and if you survive that with good planning, you will overcome. The real issue in Nigeria isn't always the lack of funds, but the lack of a plan. Money does not automatically guarantee a good family; you can spend millions raising a child who lacks drive, while a child from a modest home with strong values becomes a high flyer. Look at civil servants on minimum wage who successfully train children through university—they do it through strict resource management, not excess wealth. We need to stop prioritizing location and luxury over the zeal and values required to build a successful home.
Baba, there is an agenda to crumble the institution of marriage/family values..... Lol

You can also decide to Eat that meal of plain veggies with love and ALONE, this is life man, you can't be too prepared, with that income they'll not have no savings, have to deal with little debts, not eat good, live good. If they decide to have a kid, what happens when that kid falls sick and they need 40,000 urgently? Have you checked what it costs now to be pregnant and have a baby? what happens when the mother cannot express much and the baby needs to be on formula for a few months 😂
The other day I saw on Tiktok how a lady whose baby couldn't take cow milk based formula because the baby was allergic to it, only goat milk based formula was okay for that baby, she was on there on Tiktok begging for help and showing videos of the baby, anyone could tell that baby wasn't eating good, goat milk based formulas are more expensive, people don't pray for these things but they still happen, the only way is to not do anything just because you have the minimum or because you believe in miracles or that "things will work out" things don't just work out because you need them to.
What's happened to breast milk?
EducationA 100-level Student Of Achievers University Landed In Serious Trouble.... by 1144AK(op): 7:20pm On Nov 28, 2025
People, especially students, should be careful about what they post online. I cannot verify the accuracy of the information!

I recently learned about an incident involving a 100-level Pharmacy student at Achievers University in Owo. The student faced serious repercussions following a TikTok comment they made.

During a live video featuring a suspected bandit, the student wrote, "Come to Owo if you’re bold enough, specifically to Achievers University." This comment caused alarm on the campus, leading to disciplinary action by the school.

The student was summoned before the disciplinary committee to address the issue. However, the exact consequences of their actions have not been disclosed yet.

Did this sibling ask him why he did what he did? What was his response?

Some individuals may harbor feelings of dislike for their own family, but in many cases, major troubles prompt them to reach out to their family for support. This is because, in many instances, only family members will stand by you during challenging times, unless it's a dysfunctional family that fails to support one another. This lack of familial support may even be the root cause of the initial issue.
CrimeRe: Kidnappers Release Video Of Couple Kidnapped In Edo State, Demand Ransom (Video) by 1144AK(m): 5:49pm On Nov 28, 2025
Please take note, unemployment isn't an excuse to kidnap another human being. One of the issues facing the youth of this generation is a 'get rich quick' mentality rather than a focus on value addition.

When there are no jobs, create one by solving challenging problems. Nigeria has many of these difficult problems.

If you are dissatisfied with the government's actions, consider joining politics to effect positive change. Team up with like-minded individuals, and join advocacy groups.

Concerning the kidnappings, people should begin to prioritize personal security by learning situational awareness. I believe the police should know how to secure the release of the kidnapped couple.

The most dangerous of extremists, tyrants, radicals and terrorists, often appear calm, collected and try to seem intelligent. He is one of the many living proofs that Nigeria isn't and hasn't been ready or ever made any efforts towards ending the widespread insecurity, if such a "mediator" and apologist exists and walks freely among the people, in a country that has a government and security agencies, then the people of Nigeria should understand he's a mouthpiece of those in power, endorsed and emboldened by the elites.
Yea , sure!!!

I am not a terrorist sympathizer. I was surprised and baffled when I watched this Sheikh Gumi interview; he seems to be very calm and level-headed in speech. I guess it's the same charm that the government falls for. He acts like an elder, doing for the North what the South really needs!

It's not about shouting and making noise; take action and stop creating disturbances! I am impressed by his demeanor.

Though I personally do not agree with his approach, terrorists and killers should be arrested and made to face the consequences according to the dictates of the law!
