Good day fellow nairalanders, I a 23year old graduated from university with a 2.1 in industrial chemistry. I graduated november this year and am awaitng NYSC service by february. I also have a accounting diploma(AAT) from ICAN and hope to complete my ICAN professional exam next year november. I actually started the ICAN program because I had friends doing it, but I've developed interest in it.
The problem is; right now financial resource is scare and I can only afford to channel the little resource into either being a chemist or an accountant now moreso I hope to use my service year to garner the 1-2 year experience demanded by employers of labour so I am eager to set a direction for my career. I lack practical experience in accounting but I have six months experience as a qc chemist at cadbury. I have passion for accounting or any other financial management field but I fear my lack of experience and background as a science student would affect me.
Please any meaning contribution as to making a decision and practical advice on what exactly to do or what exact fields may be best for someone with my background. Please bear in mind that I hope to get a job after service and I don't really have 'connection' so I need objective suggestions. Thanks and God bless.
