Thousands of people are taking part in celebrations to welcome 2013. Sydney was one of the first cities around the world to do so with a dazzling firework display. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered around the Australian city's harbour as the annual explosion of fireworks lit up the familiar sights of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

My childhood new year celebration. The fire brigade were always between 5 to 15 minutes too early. Their sirens would go off and we'd make fun of them/insult them for being too early. Then everybody will wait for the big one. 12 midnight booooooooooooooooo! The fog horns from the ships at Marina could be heard from miles around. Then you'd see the fireworks from the ships. Marina, Five Cowry Creek, as far as Falomo. Red stars, fire displays, etc. The banger wars will reach the peak at this point. It was always lovely. This year, it's Eko Atlantic City! Let's see how it goes. HAPPY NEW YEAR NAIRALAND!!! 1 Like
