Meanwhile, I m building it on a standard plot of land. The area of the ground floor is just 158 sqm. I opted for raft foundation, due to some traces of water logging which I saw around the place, the architect also advices me to just do the raft, for peace of mind. It's also not too expensive going by the cost projections for the foundation up to German flooring.
I will answer all your questions that is answerable.

Best of luck mate. I must tell you building duplex is quite challenging. I started mine in December 2011; I am only at finishing stage. May your aim and energy on this house get to fruition. I am following this great thread.

nice one. Signing in for parttime lesson.

From my past experiences, I have know that construction works gulp a lot of water, as a result I am drilling a borehole before starting the project, it's costing about 120k. Advantages :
It saves money that could have been spent calling water vendors
It makes the water cleaner, due to continuous pumping.

Good plan just one question the only access you have to the laundry is an outside door is there any reason for this and why no entry through the house.
