Can't Take It Anymore. Am Living Arsenal by Nobody: 8:31am On Jan 14, 2013 |
It is with a sad and broken heart that I withdraw my support from Arsenal Football Club. I have been supporting this club for over 18 years, through all the ups and downs. I have witnessed the greats come and go, been part of something special, but I feel that something ‘special’ is no more. My reasons for discontinuing my support are based primarily on a moral issue. Please read further before criticizing. It is no secret that over the past eight years or so, AFC has become first and foremost a business, football club second. The owner, a Mr. Stanley Kroenke with majority shares of 72% roughly, has been using AFC as a ‘money tree’ with absolutely no sign of passion and support for this club. It is purely a profit machine for him, one which relies heavily on the unwavering support from the fans to continue to flourish. Now there is nothing really wrong with that from a business perspective, but the fans MUST ask the question: As clients, are we getting what we are paying for? Is the type of football we are watching worth the highest ticket prices in Europe? It goes deeper than that still. Some of us breathe Arsenal. We eat and sleep Arsenal. We bleed for Arsenal. Yet in knowledge of this, our owner and board members continue to exploit us week in and out. They continue to make promises which they are not keeping. BUT, end of the day it is only the fans who are suffering and are without. Stanley Kroenke still walks away each month with a profit, Gazidis keeps receiving his annual pay rise and Arsene Wenger still continues to get one of the largest pay packets for a manager in Europe. We are being exploited and it sickens me to my stomach knowing that I am fulling their (the boards) back pockets each year, while my beloved Arsenal is suffering. The last eight years we have been witness to neglect and a deterioration beyond acceptable parameters. I personally will not stand for this anymore. If the board want money, they will NOT be getting another cent from me. My time and passion will be put into something else which actually respects me and my feelings. I also feel very much for some of the players who clearly love Arsenal. Players like Jack Wilshere, Carl Jenkinson, Sczesny etc all who give it 100% every game but who are sweating blood for a manager who’s sole ambition is just to cut top 4. It is unfair and actually makes my blood boil. Then you have people wondering why so many players up and leave for greener pastures. So fare well Arsenal. The best thing that could happen to you is a new owner and manager and I really feel sorry for the fans who will continue to be abused and exploited by a corrupt and greedy board. We have to make a stand sometime in our lives and I regard my football and my passion as something not to be taken lightly. |

u tried. pls do not join pdp. there clubs with clear/clean sense of sportsmanship in epl. the devil is a liar and whatsoever the devil gives u with one hand, he will collect with the other hand. in epl, there are 20 clubs and only one is devil incarnate, pls choose from the other 19 and stay away from the devil. i left arsenal in 2004 and since then, my pains in soccer are gone even when we are not winning. i am a blue soldier now but where u go next is not my concern rather i am happy that u have finally decided to run away from heart attack BUT PLS, AVOID THE DEVIL(pdp). 1 Like |
