Power Must Come Back to the North in 2015 if Our Problems Must be Resolved-Ango Abdullahi

Prof Ango Abdullahi, spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), and the former Special Adviser to President Obasanjo and ex-vice-chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has declared that only when power is restored to the North would the region's problems be solved.

Abdullahi said this yesterday after a meeting at the house of Maitama Sule in Kano called to brainstorm on how Northern groups can work together in unity to ensure that power is returned to the region in 2015.

At the meeting were several Northern groups each represented by a prominent Northerner including Maitama Sule at whose residence the meeting held, controversial forner senator, Joseph Waku who represented the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Capt. Bashir Sodangi representing the Arewa Elders Forum, former presidential candidate of the NRC, Alhaji Bashir Uthman Tofa, Evang M. O. Owojaiye of Northern Christian Elders Forum, , John Dara representing the Middle Belt Forum, Ambassador Yahaya Kwande who is a member of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal A.M. Daggash, Prof Idris Muhammad and Prof. Dandatti Abdulkadir of Kano Initiative, and renowned Northern intellectual, Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmad amongst others.

abdullahi criticized president Jonathan and his policies as not favoring the North and declared that the meeting would ensure that power returned to the North in 2015.

He's not God and cannot decide the future of Nigeria.

Men like Ango Abdullahi spent all their life in govt, made all their money in govt and turns round to fight d govt when it ceases to massage their overbloated ego.
All d yrs the north had bn in power, what did they achieve other than making few ppl like Ango Abdullahi rich at d expense of d majority.
This govt has shown dat it understands some of our problems like;
1. Power supply( d best since d inception of democracy)
2. Good roads (same)
3. Aviation(best airports and aviation policies since '99. Though wt high crash incidence)
4. Education( d new universities needs to be funded. EFCC shld take note cos V.Cs are d most corrupt nigerians naw)
5. Subsidy(whether we like it or not, ds is an evil we must get rid of to free our economy).
GEJ's govt is d Nigerian ppl's govt and it's failure is also our failure to hold him accountable and keep d govt on it's toes. Ds govt does nt nid to be changed, it only needs 'brushing up' by way of constructive criticism and civil disobedience for it to fight corruption and stop being slow in their response( boko haram nt mentioned cos it's a northern political org).
D Nigeria we dream of is within our grasp ,if we can force ds (listening and grassroots)govt on it's toes .

^^^^if the above reckless and infantile proposition is coming from a supposed Professor and former Vice Chancellor of a Federal University, then the problem in that part of the country is bigger than what we thought it to be...

But since more than eighty percent of ownership of the nation's oil reserves is in the hands of some influential northerners who acquired marginal fields, Oil Mining Licenses (OML), Oil Prospecting Licenses (OPL), which are due to expire soon, the crave for power as an end rather than the means to an end by Ango Abdullahi and northern elites could be understood...

By the mention of Ango Abdullahi, Adamu Ciroma and co comes to mind.

This was exctly the kind of statement that won the presidency for GEJ. It will again if they don't tone down this sense of entitlement.

From the mindset of the average Northern Moslem, who see it as a right for them to rule and a taboo to be ruled by none of there own, the Ango of a Prof, is even a gentleman.

This is why some of us are insisting that we must restructure Nigeria so that we can make progress.

Dishonorable men, who did not keep a gentleman's agreement they entered into have caused the deaths of thousands of Nigerians, caused the escalation of terrorism in Nigeria, caused the most horrendous looting of our treasuries to date. These men will destroy our nation by 2015 unless they reverse their dishonorable actions. Ango is on point.

Useless north

Tomorrow some folks will open another Buhari for president Thread; touting him to be the incorruptible messiah. I personally have stopped contributing to such discussions. Human beings are naturally selfish with most people fighting for their own selfish gains and will do any thing to ensure they realize their aims. some politicians have told us how they love us and would want to rescue us from bad leadership. fact remains that if we have as much good people as some politicians portray themselves to be, Nigerian will be the greatest nation on earth.

we all know even if we pretend not to know, that it's all about power, money, control and oppression. Political parties are just the instruments used to actualize these objective.

The north wants power. If PDP can give them power they won't mind the Flag bearer. ACN wants the presidency, you must be joking if you think its about the man on the streets. the south east wouldn't fault any political party that delivers the presidency to them. When their people were in power, were they any better? Instead the North was and still is the most backward place compared to other regions. The foundation past Northern presidents have laid, is what the people are reaping now. So I hope Ango knows his way to Abacha, Babangida's house, and table his angst to them.

So what happens if power fails to return to your North Prof Ango If Nigeria will still be one come 2015 and beyond, the 'Core North' can wait till 2027! What an irritating comment from a confused mind, as if they know what to do with power if given the chance!
