I have always wondered why it has sort of become a norm with our sport analysts to stammer whenever they are analysing a game/match. Is this some sort of professional stlye or what?

It could also be as a result of a speech impairment. Some folks try to limit the incidence of stammering, when in a public forum.
I stammer sometimes, but I have learned to take my time when speaking.
