The little girl flies out of a shattered window and into the carriageway after the terrifying collision – only to end up in the path of another ONCOMING TRUCK.
Fortunately the quick-thinking driver of the huge HGV manages to swerve around the tot – missing her by inches.
The nail-biting moment was captured on a dashboard camera of a following car as it emerged the youngster was travelling on the vehicle’s PARCEL SHELF.
The film shows a Mitsubishi losing control on an icy Russian road before clipping a Scania truck.
Items are seen to fly from the back of the wrecked vehicle - and it soon becomes clear a little girl is among the debris.
The one-year-old sprawls onto the opposite side of the road and lands directly in front of an oncoming HGV.
But the lorry - weighing several tonnes - somehow manages to swerve past before a following vehicle also slams on the brakes.
The child’s mother then rushes from the front of the lorry before scooping her up and taking her back inside.
The video of the miracle escape, which happened on a road near Nizhny Novgorod, in western Russia, has now gone viral on the internet.
The baby, who has not been named, was said to have suffered bruises and concussion, but is believed to have avoided serious injury.
Cops told Russian State TV that the girl was not properly strapped in – and had instead been kept on a blanket on the car’s parcel shelf.
Officers also told how the driver, Dmitry Aliev, 53, had made an illegal move as he tried to overtake the car in front.
Reports say about 10 per cent of Russian car crashes involving children happen when the child is not wearing a seatbelt.
