I'm about to get an Hp pavilion m6-1040eo laptop with amd quadcore A10-4600M 2.3Ghz,8 gig ram,750gig hard drive at 115k after my search for a not too pricey core i5+amd graphics laptop proved abortive.i've heard nd read a lot about amd processors and motherboards and their problems.how true are these claims?is this laptop worth it?

Hmmm.... I wish you can be more explicit about why you say you won't use them anymore.

Anyways, @OP. I've used 3 laptops and a desktop powered by AMD processors and my current HP laptop uses E2 dual core with ATI graphics. They do have their strenghts and weaknesses. Am yet to see any truth in the myth of AMD processors being hot all the time. Sure when u use a system, it gets warm but not Hot like I hear ppl say. At least, in my case, I use my laptop to do intensive stuffs like games and network simulations and it handles it quite well. I've played PES 2012, DMC4, Fable, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood on it comfortably. The A10 is a very nice processor that handles as well as an intel quad core.

Thanks henryskywalker2003. I have used AMD based products and never experienced the, somewhat false, heating problem. A buddy of mine has been using his AMD based HP pavillon laptop since 2007 without it blowing up.
I still maintain a view that a laptop is only as good as its user/owner. Its like seeing one Kia vehicle in an accident and concluding all Kia vehicles are accident prone!

You can also consider buying a cooling pad, the A10 is good for gaming
