Third Mainland Bridge

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has said that installation of street lights on the Third Mainland Bridge will be completed in April. Making this known when he spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), an engineer with the agency, Mr, Oladimeji Abayomi, said in Lagos Wednesda   that contractors handling the project were currently tracing the faults and clearing them.

He said that more lights would come on every week until all the faults were cleared. “The contractor is on ground, the work is ongoing. They are tracing faults underground and laying cables.

“When you are tracing a problem, you may meet a bigger one that needs to be solved. Anytime from March or April this year, the work would be completed,’’ he said.

He decried the power outages and outrageous billing system, which he said, was the bane affecting the lights on the bridge. Abayomi explained that the agency relied more on generators to power the lights from five different substations in the state.

He said the agency had to continue to supplement Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) with generators pending when its plan to change to solar energy materialised. Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, had in October 2012, directed a team of engineers to tackle electrical problem on one of the expansion

This is not an achievement but what should have been in place. Please understand what achievements are. That is why I get infuriated when government blow its trumpet that they have built roads - that is not an achievement, it is called repairs please.

As important as the 3rd Mainland Bridge is, it's a big shame that functioning street streets are still being discussed. Before anyone blames GEJ, the Lagos State government isn't any better. Even the popular Allen Avenue in Ikeja has not had working street lights for years. These people are all incompetent jokers.

If you dont have any meaningful thing to say why not keep quiet. What stops you from commending them even if they brought the idea late. Try and encourage people, stop discouraging cus it will have more negative impact in ur life than positive.

Is there any "street light" in your brain? It's obvious the hollow cavity has been in total darkness for a prolonged period. Little wonder you can't see reason.

To say the Lagos state Govt is not fixing street lights is ridiculous, the whole of Lagos Island is always lighted, western avenue, eko bridge, surulere, the mobolaji bank anthony way, alausa etc just to mention a few i am sure of. the lights on ikorodu road is being replaced and check all new road constructed by the lagos state government, they are always pre-installed with lights and powered by generating sets.
here are some night pictures i took on the day Mr President locked down major roads just to get to the Redeem camp
