House Rejects Bill On Compulsory Brreast Feeding by Nobody: 1:26pm On Jan 30, 2013

The House of Representatives yesterday threw out a bill which sought exclusive breast feeding for women working in both public and private sectors compulsory.
Sponsored by Rep. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas (ACN, Lagos), its proponents had called for an avenue for nursing mothers to bring their babies to place of work to enable adequate breastfeeding for the day for the health of new born babies in Nigeria.

However, Rep. Friday Itula (PDP, Edo) argued to the contrary insisting that the matter be left on advocacy rather than making it compulsory.
When the question was put by Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal whether the bill be read for a second time, majority of the legislators voted in opposition thereby rejecting it.
