For keep project under control I like to know which element I gonna lose control
so
* Project status reports can help me but sometime it too late for a major impact and PM is a last guy who know about that.

* Communication Management is tools to make me aware of the situation for what gonna happen so I can call a right guy to fix it or key stake holder who I have to approach.

* I don't have PMP certify now , buy I must to have one, not for that paper but the knowledge inside to help me to plot a right project plan

I agree that a good project plan is first concert to calculations the win or lose before start a project. same like one man had said in 2000 year ago:
