I remember that day quite well. The back pages of the newspapers were awash with boasts from the Burkinabe coach and I remember thinking, "who is this one?".

The Eagles camped at Obasanjo Farms in Ota. When they got to the National Stadium, they discovered that an official had forgotten their shorts at the Ota Camp (a popular NFA official was sacked or suspended for this, but I can't remember his name).

There was confusion. What do we do? Rashidi Yekini suggested that, rather than forfeit the game, they should cut the trousers of their track suits and use that instead. The trousers were cut with razor blades.

I remember my surprise and confusion when the game started. The Eagles were wearing 3/4 shorts! (They wore proper shorts during the 2nd half). But I soon forgot about that as the goals started raining down.

Yekini scored a hat-trick, Finidi scored on his debut, but I can't remember the other scorers. 7-1. The Burkinabe scored towards the end of the match. I was annoyed that they scored. It should have been 7-0.

Of course I got the full story from my dad who sat in the state box, watching the match live (I watched it on tv).

Nigeria has to be wary of this.BURKINA FASO'S WEAKEST LINK IS KOULIBALY.On an occasion,he tried to play the offside trap,inadvertently playing Gyan through,but Gyans shot clipped the crossbar.Later,he lashed out at Gyan inside the box.Nigeria have to take advantage of him. Nigeria on the other hand play a nice,passing game,with Mikel directing play,but there are three components to Nigerias game. 1.MIKELS DIAGONALS TO THE WIDE PLAYERS,which sometimes leaves the opposition full backs at sea. 2.MOSES DRIFTING TO THE CENTRE-Mose receives the ball in a left position ,and quickly drifts inside,thereby functioning as an emergency number 10.By doing this,he attempts to take advantage of gaps in the oppositions defence. 3.THE CONSTANT OVERLAPPING THREAT OF THE FULL BACKS.This enabled Echiejile to score a goal in the last game. 4.RELENTLESS HARRYING OF THE OPPOSITION-Nigerian players harry,hound ,and mercillessly pursue the opposion,in a bid to stop them from playing.This was a bit effective agaist MALI In short,if Nigeria is able to stop the fluid,cohesive style of the Stallions,we will carry the day.Thats about it
