Unfortunately, many Christians do not believe that the Holy Spirit will lead them into all truth. Instead, what many incorrectly believe is that the Holy Spirit will only lead a few chosen individuals into all truth and these elite few will in turn lead them. This erroneous idea denies God's promise in the Bible of the Holy Spirit to each Christian individually. Among other things, this error often involves a misunderstanding of how things work in the New Testament compared to how things used to work in the Old Testament. This commonly prmoted idea of elitism is also one of the prime motivators of book sales and seminar attendance and also creates job security for many false teachers as well.

Further, and briefly, there are not any elite among us. According to Matt 23:8, we have one Master Christ and we are all brothers. Elitists are a puffed up illusion. They often deify themselves while attempting to degrade and humanize God as well as degrading the majority of the Body of Christ (except of course those in their mutual admiration society). As a matter of fact, we are supposed to be so far away from elitism, that we are not even supposed to give and receive titles:

"But be not called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all you are brothers. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be you called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." Matt 23:8-12

Unfortunately there is no shortage of professing Christians looking for an earthly king and no shortage of wannabe would-be "leaders" looking to be those very kings. The horrible fruit of this error is widepread and very dangerous.
