prospy04: Well, i dont see any reason why anybody should blame FG regarding this issue, afterall uniabuja is not the only fed. uni. In this country and as such u dont expect MIN. Of Edu. To use all the money allocated to the ministry to solve uniabuja's problems wen there are other fed. Universities that also need funds.
What i think suld b done is that the university management should bring in private sector to come in and build infrastructure and also help to provide the things that are needed in some of this departments to enable them get acreditation from NUC.

Hey man! Would you pls stop posting trash? How many Federal universities do you know across this country were funded by the private sector with regards to provision of infrastructures? The Foundation of that university issh1t, that's why it's in this huge mess today. My Ernest prayer is for Gods mercy to rest on the Airhead that kick started a federal university on a primary school without any real planning or mapping. @Op,I can feel ur pain but to be candid,gwags has always been a joke n fraud all along...Apologies to her alumni here but that's the truth...Imagine in 2004 when I applied for computer science with a jamb score of 242 (no post jamb then),only 4 me to get to d school and cudnt find my name on the admission list..what even annoyed me most was the fact that jamb scores of 177,180 etc.where dere on d notice board..I have a younger sister there presently and we both got admission same time and I hv graduated 2yrs ago..The real prblm is hw can a school that was created in 1991 want to rub shoulders with the 1st and 2nd generation universities? is it because it is in the federal capital? Imagine courses like medicine and engineering,dem think say na beans to set up facilities just like that..Right frm the onset,the right ppl hv nt bn on ground to manage the skul n that's the result of what we r seeing 2day..The school has been politicalised frm the beginning and I pray this should be an eye opener and wake up call to the NUC,Ministry of Education,FG and other authorities involved..I FEEL 4 THEM.

None accreditation of coursesand the problems following forthwith is not a new thing in Nigeria. From Ibadan to Ife, to Benin, Port Harcourt, Calabar, these had happened at one time or the other. I think this is in the news because it's Abuja. When it comes to educational issues in Nigeria, we need to understand the rules and procedures to enable us make informed decisions. In universities, departments may be accredited as: no accreditation (or denied accreditation), interim accreditation, or full accreditation. Each status is usually reviewed after some years and has its implications e.g denied accreditation implies that the affected department/programme stops admission into the programme until the status is reviewed - may be after three years. Some universities, with full knowledge of this rule, will still admit students into the department/programme which invariably means that the students are not recognized by NUC, and so cannot take university exams. Even if they do, they cannot graduate. It's only unfortunate that the universities do not infom their prospective students on time. If the rules are to be obeyed, even if those students in the affected departments take their exams they may still have problems in future.
