Catholic bishops on point once again. Not afraid 2 say the apparent truth in the face of persecution and apparent disdain for values that the church holds dear.

The communique stated that the lack of transparency and accountability were responsible for the high level of poverty and security threats in the country.

It said, “To respect the dignity of a person is to concede his rights to him as fully human.

“We cannot fail to point out that the pervasive lack of accountability and transparency in governance in Nigeria has become a serious abuse of human rights.

“A government that is negligent in this regard, assaults the intelligence of the citizen; this, too, is a gross violation of human dignity.

“We call on leaders in every sphere of our society to be more accountable and more transparent in the conduct of public affairs.

“The lack of accountability, especially in the oil industry in Nigeria continues to give our country a bad name, impoverishes the citizenry, and threatens national security.

“It is a gross violation of human dignity that Nigerians, citizens of a richly endowed land, live in dehumanising poverty.

“That is why the government and the governed must renew sincere efforts to fight corruption and the theft and wastage of public funds in Nigeria,’’ it said.

To be fair, the Bishops' communique addresses leaders in general, not just GEJ.

Am not impressed.Evn a reverred assemblage like dat of d catholic bishops are also playing politics wt their choice of words. There is no part of d communique dat directly challenges d govt in power as being responsible for d rot we find ourselves;just a general statement on "all leaders".Well dey too are leaders so dey av to collect their own share of d responsibility for d doom staring d nation. Its cowardly statements like dat of d bishops dat is partly responsible for d decadence, massive corruption, insecurity, judicial rot we find ourselves in.They shd continue coating their words till we find ourselves tipping frm d abyss we find ourselves in now to d deep ocean. As for other self annointed pastors,d less said about dem d better, dese ones now put god& money on d same pedestal
