d ps vita is by far the best handheld gaming device available in the market now.
its quad core processor, it multi touch TFT scréen, its rair touch pad and many other interesting prospects this device has to offér, not to mention it has a great battery
but dis device has its many let downs, as of now it is not d most selling piece of gaming material, well sony should be able to explain dat, but for we d africans i.e nigerians, we have a large market nd sony did nt consider us africans in d design of dis gadget but that not witstanding we nigerians always gets a way of making use of things that were not designed for us even better than d original intended consumers
well, if u happen to knw or have one of the two models... 3g or wifi models then u must be one of the best gaming minds in africa
did i mention that everything about this device is dam expensive, yes, the m.card, the game cards even accessories like chargers and ear piece

Though, i do not mind payin 4 d console itself 38k-50k wifi/3g but d console will be useless without its games and memcard except u wan use am surf d internet which also comes with d price of internet service provider. A good vita game would cost nothing less than 4k and a 16gig memcard as much as 12k. Isn't dat craze? I probably will wait 2 get mine in d next 2 years by then d vita would have been properly jailbroken 2 play homebrews then i can put games on d memcard 4 less than 200naira @ oshodi just has its done with d psp.

vita has been out for like 2 yrs now stil no hack or jailbreakin! d games & d mcard are jst too expensive, well if u ask me, i would say no one should even buy d vita any more til d prices drops unless u can afford it though. unfortunaly i bot mine before knwing how expensive d accessories are!

Sure if anoda powerful handheld console pop-up @ a reasonable cost then why wait 4 d vita. D vita is a wonderful game console no doubt, but it won't appeal 2 me @ dat price especially d games and memcard. Also d vita console itself has d followin shortcomings;
1. D vita's camera.
For d console's screen 2 be dat powerful, isn't it ridiculous its camera is 0.3megapixel.
2. D browser does not support flash content. Sony must be insane.
3. Why not d convention sony memcard (sony will neva show support 4 microSD cards) at least we can use our sony camera memcard or psp memcard wit d vita but no d vita has its own proprietary memcard. In dis age when most device uses d microSD card Sony chose 2 go d way of Apple. All their devices always coming with its exclusive peripherals.
4. From reviews, d battery life isn't dat great...estimated 3 hrs of gameplay. Since sony knows d battery won't last a long time why not make d it a detachable battery so fans can get an extra battery.
5. Merely lookin at d vita console, u will get d impression dat it is a gaming device capable of being an iphone,ipad,tablet,smartphone etc. but sony failed 2 leverage on dis unique look.

i have a vita, had it for a year. have a bunch of games on it, although only six physical ones. most other things i got off their store.

my take.

i'm a camera snob so i've never been a fan of using device based cameras as a main camera. i think the camera in the vita was installed for augumented reality stuff as opposed to cataloguing your memories.

battery life is fine. it's closer to 5, which is nothing compared to a ds lite, but ok. considering you can usb charge it, its not terrible.

your last point is fact. it's a gaming device first and foremost. if you want an sony smartphone competitor, maybe get an xperia?

agree with the cost of the memory cards being prohibitive, although if you have the opportunity to shop online and import, you can find slightly cheaper 32gb ones from play asia (i think). not sure what other peripherals you need beyond that. also don't bother with the 3g version. i have heard rumours of it being discontinued and it's pretty useless anyway. you can't play online with it or download stuff, all you can do is possibly browse and maybe upload/download stuff from near. and it prolly is a battery hog too.

i think in summary if you're expecting it to replace your smartphone or tablet you'll be disappointed, but as a handheld (particularly for a ps fan) it's probably the most advanced ever. deep down sha i still loved my ds lite more.
