Mobbing is group bullying or ganging up on someone using the tactics of rumor, innuendo, discrediting, isolating, intimidating, disfaming, e.t.c which can be done to the victim online (social medias like facebook, icq, Nairaland e.t.c) in school, place of work, at home or neighbourhood, in cinema or public places. Typical of many abusive situations like this, the perpetrators maintain that the victim ‘deserved it.’
Mobbing has been shown in many real-life situations to have a devastating effect on the individual it touches and has a ripple like effect upon people around that individual, their families, their communities and society at large. Some examples are certain known cases where people who are mobbed have committed sicide, or are so devastated that they can´t face themselves anymore.
It is now known to contribute to isolation, physical or mental illness, depression, violent or self-destructive behavior, and mistrust. The targeted person may act inappropriately due to prolonged extreme stress.

The questions now follow as thus: Do we know anyone in our vicinity who is being mobbed? How does one help someone being mobbed? How can mobbing be stopped in our environment?
