Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has appealed to investors to site their facilities in the state, assuring them of good returns on investments.

He also promised them maximum support from the state government.

The governor made he promise while taking some international investors around the State.

Obi, who spoke to the press after visiting six different sites, said he was personally involved in the exercise to demonstrate to investors that the state will be glad to host them.

“This is also a clarion call for other investors to come to Anambra State, which besides being investor-friendly, booasts of the highest concentration of entrepreneurs in sub-Sahara Africa”, the governor said.

Citing example with some international organizations that have already sited their facilities in Anambra State, Obi said that he was always ready to be their one-stop-shop on issue that may possibly confront them in the process of doing business in the state. He explained that his commitment to industrialization is as a result of his conviction that any state desirous of making any meaningful economic impact must move from consumption to production and deliberately support activities in expanding the manufacturing base of the state. Governor Ob also visited Golden Oil Industry located at Harbour Industrial Zone, Onitsha.

He inspected the existing facilities of the company and the new ones they are building, 40,000 tonnes feed meal.

Obi said the visit was to ascertain about the company, what they are doing in view of their request for more land for expansion. He said that now he had visited and personally evaluated the company, that the government will offer them all necessary assistance.

In his remarks, the Executive Director of the company, Mr. Dvioedy V.N, said that Anambra State had not had it so good until Obi became the governor. He said that from the bad situation it used to be, Obi has returned stability to the town which has made it one of the best places to invest in Nigeria.

I bet this report won't make front page. Something that would help create employement, wealth for nigerians won't make frontpage yet reports like " miss X's new look" makes frontpage...how gullible can nl be, if I may ask?

Anambara needs a major investments in Foundry , metallurgical complexes and machine tool complexes that would catalyze the Auto Industry in Nnewi and Onitsha this will also pull all the Engineering Man power produced in university of Awka and UNN who might presently be roaming the streets of Lagos Abuja and Port Harcourt trading or doing business like those whose means of livelihood has been truncated in Ladipo . In a much as a Golden Oil industry is a cool idea , a big foundary and Metallurgical complex even though a capital intensive project would be a better idea and would trigger the Growth of the Auto industry there providing inputs for Innoson and other car parts manufacturers and reduce the forex used to buy Engine blocks and other heavy Engineering products.

is that supposed to be public and private driven issue.

asha 80: is that supposed to be public and private driven issue.

A PPP will suffice , the Government can partner some Chinese foundries and metallurgical complexes who can invest in Onitsha and Nnewi .Also big Indian firms like Mittal steel and reliance industries limited can also invest in this sector, Parts needed in the Auto industry ,Oil industry and power sector can come locally from this PPP venture.

why i am suggesting this is that the River Niger has been dredged so iron ore from itakpe and steel scraps from the North can be shipped down at a very low cost via river Niger from Lokoja in kogi state , while the Coal from Enugu can also be transported by road to Onitsha the Metallurgical training school in Onitsha produces the manpower who will turn these raw materials to finished steel products in a Mini steel mill in Onitsha and Nnewi and the products are converted to car parts in Nnewi and Onitsha and marketed to the outside world and west Africa from Onitsha , this would create a local steel economy and encourage the growth of other steel manufacturing outfits and reduce forex from imported steel products.

So the Governor went to inspect a new factory, and there were no pressmen with cameras/recorders in his entourage? I tire for our style of reporting on events.....too much turenchi and little or no pics/videos! Just one line of a written description on the event, and 5 or 6 pics would have had a better impact than the dissertation posted up there.

The coal wud be best transportd by Rail cos of its bulkiness and Cost. The PH-Enugu Railline (which is connectd to d Mines) wud soon be complete, almost certainly dis yr.... Generally, good points; except that it seem you 4got to mention POWER. Without Power many of dese tins wud be almost impossible to do or substaind; d current levels wud hv to be significantly improvd 1st more than its present state

Thank you for that point ,I actually made my Postulations based on what is presently on ground, I believe within a year or 2 of Operation the Foundry and Metallurgical complex a high speed rail link would of necessity come on stream to boost through put in fact the rail way track and steel structures that would be used to connect Enugu to Onitsha could come from the the Foundry and Metallurgical complex which would boost out put of the complex.

I also factored power requirments considering the Efforts of Geometric and Transcorp in Aba and Onitsha it wont be long before the effect of improved Electricity is felt in neighboring cities like Onitsha and Nnewi .

Based on the Mild Estimate of the Aguiyi Trade Union in Ladipo that they are loosing N100B a day in revenue because of the Market Closure the actual Turn over of the Steel complex would not be anything less than N200B a day if you factor in that the steel products would be used in the oil industry , maritime , power and auto industry.

Actually Transcorp bought over the Ughelli Power Plant in neighboring Delta State , well since both states are neighbors and share the same River Niger , the Bridge , Airport and have the same language affinity nothing stops them from Sharing power generated from Ughelli until Orient or Geometric consortium sorts out the power need of Anambra

Why is Obi inspecting private owned factories and people are busy giving him credit for that? The companies are owned by the investors and came there because they found it profitable. What Obi owes them is to provide good roads and reduce their environmental difficulties. Other States are also having some investments but the Governors don't go with pressmen to take credit. For example inspite of T. A. Orjis years of mis-rule we've seen the 1st independent power project in his State, the worlds largest malting plant has been built in his State, Guiness has opened their 3rd Nigerian factory in his State, The largest aluminium can manufacturing factory in Africa is nearing completion in his State and many others. I believe those industries are there because Onitsha the city is traditionally industrial/commercial and not Obi. Maybe Amosun should be going round Agbara and Otta with press men inspecting people's factory.

Why are you always burning with envy? Why is Anambra always causing you sleepless nite and heartache? Why must you compare Anambra and elsewhere? Abia people understand that we are ahead of them in all indices of development including your rural state, but its not a problem btw us. However I challenge you told post link of the so called completed Malting plant, Guiness, etc

Why not you face your dry imo state where only pr/ostitu/tion, kidnapping and other ills are reigning supreme. There is virtually nothing in your imo state today but you had all the time to write thesis concerning Anambra. Even you brother Orange drugs left your imo state and relocated to Anambra where he built the largest soap manufacturing the plant in Onitsha. Doesn't he think he could build it in your imo state, its because there is no enabling environment.

Obi has done so much to bring multinationals to the state, he created the enabling environment, infrastructure for the investors as against your potbellied talkative gov who is busy borrowing billions and mortgaging the future of already poor imo state without nothing to show forth.

If you had read the passage properly you would have seen that Obi treat every investor with respect to know their various problem incuding land expansion.

Anambra is the pace setter and giant of the East.

Yes ofcos we do not need to wash our dirty linen in the public. But we will not spare the rod to spoil the child. That boy abagworo is a thorn on the flesh of Ndigbo on this forum. He fans the embers of disunity so much so that he needs to be checked effectively. If extending the war to his kinsmen will so stop him so be it.
Study his text above, you will realise that he goes all about on this NL looking for trouble. Looking for a way to pitch brothers against the other. Take a look the manner with which he deliberately trying to cause disaffect between Anambra and its neighbours. Its uncalled for. That silly ediot abagworo should be severely cut to size.
