Nigerian police force are not tactical, they are not focused on their duties-they are only focused on money-shame on them,no shooting range practice site,no training,no discipline.
if they do not sit up,they will keep dying like chickens

Nigeria is gradually going the way of Somalia, Sudan and other part of the world where lawlessness, violence and anarchy is the orderof the day. I seriously sympathize with this country and except something decisive is done now the prophecy of America is fast coming to past, that by 2015 Nigeria may not exist again. When law enforcement officer is killed like christmas chicken, who then can guarantee his safety when who is saddled withthe responsibility of protecting life and property is now a victim

Billyonaire: My instinct tells me the visitor he escorted is the masterminder of the murder. He came with the assassins and staged them at prime location. Lured his host to escort him knowing he wont move with full escort. Then alerted the assassins to await and strike. Such man as that visitor must be his friend. He should arrested on circumstantial evidence.

Well said, this angle should be thoroughly investigated

1. Everybody would have known he was in town because I am almost dead certain he rode into town with an escort and sirens blaring.

2. By virtue of his status as a Police commissioner automatically makes him a politician. He prolly was also into village politics as well. A lot of folks would want him dead.

3. In Nigeria, you can buy an AK-47 from the streets for as little as 50 - 100 thousand Naira.

4. He was prolly being followed and monitored. A reflection of poor training. Nigerias answer to insecurity is brute force in numbers which really isn't all that wise. If he had an unmarked vehicle in his convoy that was trailing him, they would have spotted those guys faster. Every time I see a convoy go past me, I laugh because it's so easy to attack them and get the upper hand especially with those AK 47s which are not very effective in close quarter combat. If his orderly had a pistol, he would have been able to manuever inside that vehicle and return fire easier than he would with a big rifle inside that confined space.

5. Everybody in his community would know where he lives. That's a no brainier.

In summary, the Nigerian Police needs to be retrained. Those AK-47s should only be carried by a special unit (e.g our SWAT unit). Inside a car, an AK-47 is not easy to manuever. A pistol in the hands of a well trained officer is deadlier than an AK47 in the hands of a thug. Moving in a convoy with flashing lights dosent necessarily mean that ou are safe. A special team of officers in an unmarked vehicle following a distance behind would be more effective as they would spot a trailing vehicle faster and move to intercept. Our entire security structure needs to be revisited. It rather sad. He was killed in front of his gate. He had a unit of heavily armed officers inside his house who didn't respond, despite hearing what I am sure would have sporadic gun shots just outside the gate. By the time they responded, the assailants had enough time to kill the commissioner, shoot up his orderly, ransack the vehicle and take the orderlies weapon and then get into their vehicle and drive away. That shows gross incompetence. It's a sad case, but I am not surprised. I have always said that a well coordinated unit of armed robbers would be able to enter the central bank and get away easily.

This is indeed a sad sad case. We really are at the mercies of men of the underworld in this nation.

Well said but there is a problem.... He wasn't in his convoy when he was shot. He was riding in his personal car but with his Police driver and orderly who went out with him. The convoy were already at his house as he had arrived hours earlier. Now the issue is that he had a visitor (a Barrister) and the question is WHY DID HE HAVE TO ESCORT THE BARRISTER HOME? He could have sent his driver to drop off the visitor as he did not have any reason to follow the visitor out. The only explanation could be that the visitor coaxed him into following him so as to lure him away from his security details knowing the man would not want to draw too much attention at that time of the night. Unfortunately, someone gave away his location and was ready for him as he approached his house.

To say he was coaxed would be stretching it!!

Nobody knows the implication of his actions. The Barister may have been doing some work for him which they went to inspect prior to the shooting. You never know.

I say, he was caught slipping and got merked.

Poor security training! Poor Police instinct..

Okija my man. On the surface, your argument is sound.

However, it can hold on one and only one condition. If he was ALWAYS in the habit of leaving his house without his escort.

And for the assassins to get him, they must 'camp' very close to his house for quite a while to get any window of 'opportunity'. This you will agree poses a great deal of risk to them. Besides, it will also require special-ops-grade alertness for such a team to be ready for such 'windows'.

The simple, A-B-C approach by the mastermind would be to have that barrister lure him out...and then bam! The barrister could even have been strong-armed, because of his closeness to the police guy, to be the bait.

Finally, although we can all only speculate, but if am an investigator, quizzing that visitor would my first point of call. Hope the masterminds doesn't eliminate the visitor - as he would be a 'lose-end'.

They should focus their investigations on that kwara state....some disgruntled bast.ards trailed him from there to his place. We all know Yorobawas with their area boy mentality have been assassinating each other since the 1960s till date.

if this guy really had that many enemies i doubt he would have been bold enough to move about so freely... this had to have been done by someone with a specific maybe not so obvious grudge against the guy.

plus altho firearms are relatively easily accessible, i doubt any tom dick and harry would be able to assemble a team of assailants capable and daring enough to assault the late CP. this had to have been done by someone with significant links to the underworld,

the story says the vehicle was trailed which would imply that the assailants probably were camped off somewhere close to the location where he dropped off his guest rather than close to his premises. if they were camped out around his premises than it is unlikely they wuld have to trail him all they would have done would be to lay ambush for him a he was leaving rather than when he was returning. strategically this wuld have been the best move unless the visitor was involved in the killing.

also camping out close to the mans home would greatly increase their chances of being spotted before having time to pull off the assault. im 90% certain that he was trailed from a location back to the house rather than from the house and around the town.

this then leads back to the visitor. it is either the visitor was indeed involved or the attacker was someone who knew the visitor had ties to the late C.P.

reports are that the visitor was a barrister...who would possibly have a case to answer against the late C.P? what projects could he have been about to embark on? further questions for the police
