Helo all,my pc got infected wit a virtob virus just yesternite,even though am usin d avast 4.6 antivirus,d problem now is dat most of d windows 32 program has bin moved 2d antivirus chest,now d pc has started malfunctionin,if i logon,it logs me out immediately,i stil hav d windows xp unlimited software,pls hw can i rectify dis fault, urgent reply needed pls.

give these steps a trial
1. Repair ur OS wit d windows unlimited software.
2. Back up all ur files after d repair.
3. Format ur hard disk.
4. Re-install d OS. And
5. Restore ur back-up

its not necessary u login.
try booting from cd. When u turn on your pc, before it starts 2 load,press delete button so dt it takes you to d setup page. Go to d bios tab & do d settings 4 d pc 2 load from cd drive instead of your hard disk.save d settings & exit d setup. Then restart your pc with your windows xp unlimited software in your cd rom. There u go!
follow d instructns thereafter.

middy, follow this guy's steps.
hope u have more than on partition. if u do take all ur stuff away from the OS partition and keep on another partition. during xp installation, make sure u format only drive C.

Go and buy new ones. . .You can always go aluminium they are everlasting. . .!

what setup are u talking about? your bios? cleat your CMOS bro. on ur motherboard change the jumper from pins 1 2 to pins 2 3, wait for a few seconds and go back to pins 1 2. the jumber is either red, black or green and is near the CMOS battery. it ain't hard to find.

@all. . . . i also av similar problem. . . .wwhenever i want to login my yahooo messenger. . . .after puting my password and username.  . . when i click on sign in. ,   .yahooo messenger disappears. ,  . . .i told someone like that,he told me my system has virus. . . another said my C:// drive is currupt. . . ,  . . @all what can i do to solve diz problem

@dualcore,as u hav said i found it,one is j2 and d other is j3,j2 is red and j3 is green,i cant find d black one.wen i change d green fr 1,2 to 2,3.d cmos was cleared but says cmos error,pls wht do i do

middy, when u took the jumper from 1 2 to 2 3, hope u brought it back to 1 2?
yea u should get a cmos error either telling u tht cmos settings is wrong or cmos battery is low. either cases u'll be given two options
1. press F1 to load defaul settings and continue
2. press F2 to enter setup.

u can choose to enter setup so u could set ur boot sequence and put cdrom as 1st boot device, IDE-0 (or hard drive) as second boot device. then sae changes, restart to begin your xp installation.

u no dey hear word ni? it a pratical thing not theory, u skipd that message 'press any key to boot from cd' etc etc u also left out those F8 for agreement thing and d format partitoin thing etc etc.

it better u take the system for repair then u monitor as the person did it shd incase of next time

@middy both dual core and info are right dependin on the advice u take betta take it to an engineer cos u might end up formating ur whole hard drive and losing al ya infos. But if u wan do am urself then u can also remove the cmos battery then switch on ur pc then switch off and return the cmos batt. Ur bios setting wil be set to defult

Yea,tnx dualcore,i finally did it,d cmos was set 2 default,so i was able 2 set d 1st boot 2 cd-rom.i did d format of d 1st partition,i am goin 2 instal d os back 2day.tnx all.
