The Emergence Of APC Is A Welcome Development- Sheikh Gumi by usmanyaro17: 3:16pm On Mar 07, 2013
The respected Kaduna based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abubakar Gumi, has described the emergence of the All Peoples Congress (APC) as aWelcome development. On a post on his facebook page he said the APC was needed to check the excesses of the PDP.

As usual, NaijaPundit brings you the post unedited below. You may also click here to read it directly.

PDP vs. APC

An Arabic adage says: “Iron is only cut by Iron”. It is absolutely necessary for the healthy growth of a nation and its stability to have at least two strong competing political parties that will give people the chance to see the contrast. The psyche of balancing and counterbalancing is what keeps the truth afloat. Allah said: “Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, In that He looketh upon Himself As self-sufficient” Q96/6-7. The moment man or people feel that they are independent of others transgression sets in. This is the dilemma of authoritarianism.

We as a nation have suffered enough. We suffered the totalitarianism of the old chieftain-cy and emirate systems then came the colonial rule followed by the military dictators that came to derail the developing 'governance by choice' sometimes in the most brutal manner.

The emergence of APC is a welcomed development to check the excesses of PDP. But as a strategy, let the good people be represented in both parties. It is then, we can benefit from the fruits of dualism. Only the Supreme and Only Deity, the Omnipotent is one and only. “If there Were, In the heavens and the earth, other gods besides Allah, there would have been mishap In both! but glory to Allah, the Lord of the Throne: (High is He) above what They attribute to Him! Q21/22. It also means by reverse analogy when you give mortals such powers of mono-existence, dominance, mishap and un-equilibrium sets in.

So the best way to encourage good governance is to promote competition. The recent visit by the APC governors to NE regions goes a long way to put Nigeria back on track and expose the hypocrisy or conspiracy behind the BH saga. This is just the beginning - insha Allah.

Without the necessity of being political or bipartisan, I advise us to be careful, tactful, flexible and strategical in the turmoil waters of politics. We only have to be wary of our greedy and sellout. “Nor can goodness and evil be equal. Repel (evil) with what is better: then will He between whom and Thee was hatred become As it were Thy friend and intimate! And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint,- none but persons of the greatest good fortune. Q41/34-35.

May Allah guide us all.

If for any reason, APC does not produce an Hausa/Fulani Moslem as the presidential flag bearer, this Gumi of a guy will declare fatwa on the party.
