The special panel set up by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Thursday pronounced Warri Wolves as the legal owner of Sunday Mba in the dispute with Enugu Rangers.

The verdict was reached at the end of a marathon meeting that had Mba, representatives of the two clubs and a member of the Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria (APFON), Enyimba of Aba and Dolphin of Port Harcourt where Mba went on loan were also in attendance.

Mba, who was a hero of Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations campaign in South Africa, was an anonymous player in the league until his stock was enhanced following his impressive outing for Nigeria.

Though the committee declined to reveal what came out of the meeting, we scooped that after looking at all the papers submitted before it by clubs, the committee concluded that Mba is a player of Wolves.

The committee also upheld that Mba has a valid contract with Wolves until 2013.

But it also saw reason with Mba who is understood to be willing to be on the side of the Enugu outfit be allowed to play for a club of his choice.

It subsequently appealed to both sides to resolve the matter amicably failure of which it threatened to grant a provisional clearance to Mba to enable him play for Rangers in the Nigeria Professional League which kicks off on Saturday.

A member of the committee, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, NFF’s Director of Competitions, who addressed the media declined to disclose the outcome of the committee’s findings.

Rather, he said the committee will submit its recommendations to the NFF board to make the final pronouncement on the matter.
