This is straying into DRONE territory. The lesson of the recent movements in northern Nigeria by the President and APC governors is not much about political posturing. These are attempts to show the world that Nigeria is handling the situation up north. But I am afraid this efforts are too little too late. There may be no preventing drones from roaming the Nigerian skies in the near future. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/09/us-nigeria-hostages-idUSBRE9280BO20130309 |

This is not Boko Haram who need to be given amnesty and reabsorbed into society. If this group is indeed based in Nigeria, then the President has failed woefully by siting idly and allowing the group to flourish. Its time for GEJ to go, we can't afford to wait until his incompetence and outright cluelessness destroys our country. |

Blame GEJ while the saintly Northern elites fold their arms watching criminal elements drag the north into a state of war. Continue blaming GEJ. |

He might have not acted on time, but calling for the president to go is in fact an aid to these terrorists. I must admit that GEJ has not shown the kind of mettle needed by a leader to address this dangerous situation. But I have not seen any of our other big men step up either, except perhaps for Gen. Obasanjo. However, even OBJ has been so antagonized that he is content to watch from the sidelines. I am afraid that this sums to a bad situation for Nigeria. Boko Haram is even worse than this group. Boko Haram has killed 1000s of innocent men, women and children - in their churches especially. Anybody that suggests Boko Haram is some militant group like Niger Delta militants is deceiving himself. Niger Delta militants never engaged in a war on muslims, which they could have easily done. And until they started planting bombs that hurt and killed people their agitation was legitimate. Boko Haram has been nothing but devilish-fanatics, who deserve to rot in the deepest parts of hell. Since GEJ is really incapable, this provides an opening for a great Nigerian leader to step up. That person must come up with a viable plan to contain this menace, and take it to the public and Abuja. Turn it into a campaign to kick GEJ/PDP out in 2015, if need be. Sit in front of Aso Rock and talk about it if GEJ refuses to listen. Unfortunately, nobody up to this point seems capable beyond the petty I-big-pass you that we call politics in Nigeria. A clue as to what might be done is the following. IBB and his boy Aliyu Babangida have done some things in Niger State to contain Boko Haram. I don't know what, but the rest of the north needs to get in touch with them. ndu_chucks: This is not Boko Haram who need to be given amnesty and reabsorbed into society. And BTW I disagree with amnesty for Niger Delta militants. I think GEJ himself is realizing that this so-called amnesty is nonsensical. But that is Nigeria for you. Always fire-brigade solutions to long-term problems. |

If this group is indeed based in Nigeria, then the President has failed woefully by siting idly and allowing the group to flourish.Your post can only be summarized in one word- SENSELESS You want GEJ to go because according to you the president's "incompetence and outright cluelessness" will destroy this country. Incredible! If I may ask, whose "incompetence and outright cluelessness" is responsible for the activities of Islamic militiants in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Algeria, Yemen, etc? Are their no governors in those northern states? What do the governors do with their security vote? Are the governors, as the number one citizens of those states, not supposed to mobilize the citizens to rally round the security agencies and flush out the militants? If I may ask again, what really do you expect GEJ to do that he has not done? Should he take AK-47 to the battle front? Destroy all living creatures in the north? Invite the same US that fled from insurgency in Iraq to help the JTF? Convert to islam for the islamist to sheath their sword? Magically transform the Nigerian solders to American solders? In conclusion, I see your attempt to score cheap political points with the DEATH of the foreign hostages as callous, opportunistic and an act of desperation for political power. |

When we warned you folks that Islamic fundamentalism and international terrorism was taking roots in Northern Nigeria, you folks didn't listen. GEJ and his cohorts decided to convince the, selves that it was 'desperate politicians' who were focused on 2015. It didn't matter tha suicide bombing had taken roots for the first time in Nigeria and Al Qaeda elements were mentioning Nigeria increasingly. The foolish FG kept quiet and tried to find an avenue t throw money at the problem like they did for the MEND criminals. Even now GEJ doesn't realize the danger and is eagerly dropping hints of amnesty for BH at every opportunity. These guys have taken hold in Nigeria thanks to GEJs weakness and we will suffer for it. |

Sincere 9gerian: shatap dia, you ignorant bigot. The group responsible is Jama'atu Ansarul Musilimina Fi Biladis Sudan, the same group which attacked our troops in Kogi state, on their way to Mali - this is not Boko Haram. This is a more dangerous group with international links and their operations in Nigeria should be deemed an invasion by their foreign sponsors who are known or should be known to GEJ's government. Disgruntled home grown unhappy youths who become MEND or Boko Haram can and should be given amnesty and reassimilated into society, but this new group should not be handled with kids gloves Open your eyes and let go of this unnecessary effeminate emotionalism. |
