Resident doctors receive postgraduate training in accredited teaching hospitals with a view to become a specialist or consultant in any medical field such as cardiology, pediatrics, pathology etc. Please, if you are a resident doctor, can you share your challenges, pains, joy, experiences and problems?

Re: Medical Doctors In Residency Programmes In Nigeria by Pzone: 6:58pm On Jul 30, 2015
Sometimes, I even wonder if the whole thing is worth it. Well, for now we keep doing the residency thingy cos it seems thats almost the only good option for doctors who want to practice in Nigeria.

Good evening.

He was already a resident in psychiatry for about a year. He definitely had contacts and built relationships. Those factors come in handy in getting placements.

Please doctors in the house
Is there any difference between studying medcine in state university and federal university.
In terms of employment opportunity, superiority at work, job opportunity, scholarship during the program, restriction to a particular hospital e.t.c
Consultant,
House officer,
500l to 600l students in the house, pls shed more light on this, may the Lord bless you all as you contribute to this topic.

There's no difference at all except for a slight consideration for undergraduate scholarship which favors federal schools sometimes, not even postgraduate.
But truth is government medical schools produce brighter doctors when compared to the private or foreign universities.
Another truth, once u graduate, u all are doctors, no more difference once u sure u can defend ur certificate.

I beg to differ....I have seen dull medical colleagues from federal universities who were not at the same intelligence level as their counterparts from private or foreign universities at least in my center....

To be a bright or good doctor is a personal decision that must be taken by always upgrading both clinical skills and knowledge even after graduation till death.
