Awake Nigeria Movement [ANM], a civil society group in Lagos has announced a proposal by its members to help politically inclined persons win elections across the Federation at a little cost of Seven thousand, three hundred naira only.

The group, which boasts of a collaborative freedom effort alongside Late Human Rights activist, Dr. Beko Ransom Kuti says it figures out that the greatest challenge of Nigerian politics is the heavy cost involved in campaigning, which politicians are said to grapple repaying upon their assumption of offices.
Coordinator of the Awake Nigeria Movement, Mr. Akanni Iromini, in a circulating leaflet throws a run-down of the expenses involved in electioneering. In the breakdown, Mr. Iromini alluded that political aspirants incur lots of expenses in contests many times over with borrowed fund attracting high interest rates. The group asserts that politicians, through the high cost of running for offices, run into series debts which they work to recoup as they occupy the various offices. ANM also said it discovers that the rots in the political system of the country are due to the electioneering debts that the politicians strife to repay all through their tenures.
“By the time some of them get into positions of authority, they will discover that money they spent before and during elections is more than revenue generated by some State Governments in years”, said Mr. Iromini. He stated that political office holders are overwhelmed with pressures to recoup the huge fund spent on elections within the time they occupy Government offices.
The group believed that a collective sponsorship of candidates into political offices, by relieving aspirants of huge debts they incur to secure their offices would help eliminate corruptions occasioned by desperation of political office holders to offset electioneering debts.
One Hundred and Seventy thousand, According to ANM is required to campaign and install ten councillorship candidates in each local government area, slimming down to only Seventeen thousand Naira to sponsor one councillorship candidate.
Similarly, the group says Sixty thousand Naira will adequately campaign and install a Local Government chairmanship candidate, although it specifies that another Eight million and four hundred thousand Naira will go into miscellaneous, transport, feeding and other office allowances for the campaigning teams.

For ease of accumulating a total of Eight million, six hundred and thirty thousand Naira total cost, ANM proposes that it would recruit five thousand members at each Local Government area, who would contribute twenty naira every day, summing into a contribution of Seven thousand, three hundred naira at end of the year per member.
These contributions, ANM says will be channeled into sponsorship of candidates into various political offices, who would be accountable to the people.
The group emphasizes the theory, believing it will work in the country.
“Become a Nigeria President; Governor, Senator; Representative; Local Government Chairman or Councilor with just N7,300”, the group advertises.

Mr. Ironini, the ANM coordinator also offered that his collective candidate sponsorship formula will end the indebtedness of political functionaries from electioneering, put stop to political atrocities as well as allow politicians deliver the dividends of democracy to the masses.
