Vehicle Highlights

Nissan enters the full-size SUV field for 2004

with a wagon based on its Titan full-size pickup

truck. Armada shares Titan's 5.6-liter V8 and 5-

speed automatic transmission. It's slightly larger

than the Ford Expedition, but weighs several

hundred pounds less. It seats up to eight and its

2nd- and 3rd-row seats fold flush with the floor.

Armada comes in SE, SE Off-Road, and LE models.

Standard are head-protecting curtain side airbags

covering all three seating rows. Front side

airbags and leather upholstery are optional on

SE, standard on the others. Armada offers rear-

wheel drive or 4WD that can be left engaged on

dry pavement and includes low-range gearing.

The automatic transmission has a tow-haul

mode. ABS, antiskid/traction control, and a tire-

pressure monitor are standard. Load-leveling

rear suspension is standard on LE, optional on

the others. Armada's liftgate has separate-

opening glass. A power liftgate is an exclusive LE

option. SE Off-Road includes skid plates, a lower

final-drive ratio, and special shock absorbers,

plus 17-inch wheels vs. other models' 18s. SE

and SE Off-Road have 2nd- and 3rd-row benches

for 8-passenger capacity. LEs have 2nd-row

bucket seats with a removable center console.

The 2nd-row bench is an LE option. Other

standard features include power-adjustable

brake and accelerator pedals, heated mirrors,

running boards, and rear park assist. Options

include a navigation system, satellite radio, and

rear DVD entertainment. Nissan's upscale Infiniti

brand offers a retrimmed version of the Armada

as the QX56 with altered styling, slightly more

power, and more luxury features.
