Unidentified gunmen killed 20 persons on Saturday night in Zilang and Mafang villages in Kaura Local Government area of Kaduna State.

A top security chief told us on condition of anonymity that the killings began on Saturday night and lasted until the early hours of Sunday. Kaura LGA of Southern Kaduna State borders Plateau State, which has also witnessed sporadic violence for several years.

Our source, who spoke to us from Abuja, added that the gunmen also injured many in the area. “Our men on ground are carrying out an extensive operation to trail the killers,”he said.

Over 2000 people, fearful of further attacks on their communities, are reported to have fled the area.
