http://johngaltfla.com/wordpress/2013/04/01/if-north-korea-starts-a-war-the-united-states-will-lose/

In North Korea the new leadership is splintering the military elites, Kim Jong-Un has been quietly replacing older generals with a new, more radical generation of leaders along with forming a government which might be more adept at action versus diplomacy as the nation declared they were aiming rockets at US bases in Asia and declaring a state of war existing again thus ending the armistice with the South.

The sudden movement of B-2 stealth bombers, B-52 bombers, and now a group of F-22 Raptors being sent into the region should spell out just how seriously the Pentagon views the North Korean saber rattling but there is an overhanging question which must be answered:

Can North Korea defeat the United States of America in a war which results in an exchange of nuclear weapons?

The answer in short is:

YES.
Re: If US Should Fight NORTH KOREA, The US Will Lose!! by citizenisb: 3:56am On Apr 03, 2013
The North Koreans only need to strike two cities, Seoul in South Korea and Tokyo in Japan and the United States of America reverts to a level of economic activity equal to pre-World War II levels if we are lucky. How does North Korea lose the war but defeat the U.S.?

The names listed above have only one alternative nation that is capable of replacing the lost production capacity; and they just happen to be the largest holder of our Treasuries outside of the Federal Reserve plus US citizens. Again, take a look at the names and consider not just the people who would perish, but the jobs lost, the productivity and innovation lost, and the ability to buy our crappy bonds by their central banks lost:
Re: If US Should Fight NORTH KOREA, The US Will Lose!! by citizenisb: 3:56am On Apr 03, 2013
I put forth the following for my readers to prepare for a period of global tribulation should a conflict erupt and the cities of Seoul and Tokyo be vaporized:

North Korea would cease to exist. America would retaliate with its strategic arsenal and millions would be killed.

South Korea would become an uninhabitable war zone, with millions dying from radiation sickness and God knows what else as the North begins its “use it or lose it” strategy with all NBC weaponry available; including biological weapons dispersed worldwide. Economic activity on the peninsula would cease to exist.

With the combination of Fukishima and Tokyo, fully 50% to 60% of the Japanese nation would become a wasteland. This will result in a reduction in output and GDP along with the eradication of one of the world’s primary financial centers to the point where Japan would be the equivalent of Ethiopia or Sudan.

The United States will receive the bulk of the blame for failing to engage in “diplomatic options” when the opportunity was available. The rest of the world will blame us for the tragedy even though a pint-sized psychopath was responsible; Chinese and United Nations’ ideological propaganda will influence the Third World into believing this falsehood.

Economic activity in the United States will be reduced by at least 20% within weeks and bankruptcies will skyrocket as a result within 6 months of the event. Unemployment will probably soar above 25% even using the fictitious BLS figures.
Re: If US Should Fight NORTH KOREA, The US Will Lose!! by citizenisb: 3:58am On Apr 03, 2013
Taiwan would become a subject nation as would other Asian nations and Russia would take a leadership role in world political affairs with China putting the United States into a subordinate position not due to our military capabilities, but our economic impotence.

The inability to force China to continue funding our government spending and maintain a trade imbalance due to a massive decline in economic activity will crush our regime and force a turn towards isolationism away from attempts to impede upon Chinese colonialist efforts in Africa and Latin America. The resulting crisis will give the current administration every excuse needed to impose martial law and invite global cooperation to create a new program for controlling the behavior both politically and economically for American citizens.

In the end, if this scenario bears fruit, the North Korean leader will be found some three decades later watching pornography and enjoying a life of luxury deep inside China after the United States and its citizens are subjugated to a new world system of governance. In other words, he wins, his people die, and the United States, Japan, and South Korea lose their freedoms and ability to exist as truly independent nations.

North Korea cannot nuke Seoul. The distance from Seoul to NK is very small...radiation will leak back across the border.

The leaders of NK are human beings, and thus unlikely to be interested in suicide. Most of this is bluffing/posturing by the NK side.

(Same with the US side imo, we can't invade or really fight NK without putting our SK allies at risk)

Well articulated article, the writer seems knowledgeable as regards the economic situations and conflict of the three Asian countries if war actually breaks out albeit he somehow underestimates Japan and S. Korea's Air Defense Systems (especially Japan which is a bit distant from N. Korea) and how fast US, Korea and Japan would retaliate to totally cripple North Korean Systems. According to news report, the Chinese have upped their game in the Korean peninsula as well:

http://freebeacon.com/border-patrol/ According to the officials, the PLA has stepped up military mobilization in the border region with North Korea since mid-March, including troop movements and warplane activity.

China’s navy also conducted live-firing naval drills by warships in the Yellow Sea that were set to end Monday near the Korean peninsula, in apparent support of North Korea, which was angered by ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills that are set to continue throughout April.

The above is the reason US needs to worry; IF N. Korea bombs US bases in Japan, the Japanese will get involved. Also, IF China gets involved as per the article, the US might hit China. However, China has a military pact with Russia, and a hit on China might potentially degenerate into a full scale war.

NB: The Chinese have got no love for the Japanese who invaded their country a while back... grin IF this scenario pans out, imagine the kinda regional conflict/war this would degenerate into...

Its so funny ppl are underestimating US today, the other time someone opened a thread on how iran will also destroy usa. Dude war is not about making noise like iran or notth korea but action!! Open ur eyes and see how technology will play more than a role. This nuclea bomb and stuff this small countries are laying hands today are toys US used before the birth of most countries in the world.
The most funny thing is that most of this countries eg north korea cant even feed itself, few yrs ago when they had natural disaster they run to america for aid..

Nigerians that sits and gossip every time about which country that will destroy usa shld be observant than been talkative ur facebook, ur google, ur yahoo, ur iphone, all come from same part of the world, we not even talk about past century and you think in acase of war, that they cant come up with something that will evacuate all u haters from earth.

I don't think America is interested in war. The only time America will go to war is when a depression is looming large!

But America will rather not try to touch a nation with Nuclear power though.

The truth is, no nation wants war any more. The global economy is too inter connected for that.

I think people saying "NK doesn't know the capability of America" blah blah blu are just naive.

First of all, war is a drain on the economy in a capitalist state like America because even the spoils of war will go to private pockets.

What did America gain from Iraq war? Halliburton and the rest of tax evaders gained trillions and they are stashing their money offshore.

America can only cause instability within enemy nation or nations that threaten American interest within or without that nation's borders. USA can not survive another war. America is an already tired empire, it has exhausted too much of its strength in needless wars. The secret to war is money! Only China can afford war right now. Not even Russia can dare war.

Meanwhile North Korea has huge amounts of Mineral deposits hosting "sizeable deposits of more than 200 different minerals, of which deposits of coal, iron ore, magnesite, gold ore, zinc ore, copper ore, limestone, molybdenum, and graphite are the largest and have the potential for the development of large-scale mines".

INTERESTINGLY, North's mineral deposits is reported at more than US$6 trillion...and has prospects that promise the exploration and export of rare earth metals (REMs) essential in the manufacture of high-tech products and in green technologies, such as wind turbines, solar panels or hybrid cars...and for making everything that we use on a daily basis, such as smartphones, flat-screen TVs, and notebook computers. Some rare earth metals, such as cerium and neodymium, are crucial elements in semiconductors, cars, computers and other advanced technological areas. Other types of REMs can be used to build tanks and airplanes, missiles and lasers.

Again, North Korea has shown potential signs of oil deposit:

SIGNS OF OIL?

Seoul's state-run Korea National Oil Corp (KNOC) said in a statement North Korea had found signs of oil in submarine blocks off the country's western coast, though it said the information was for reference. The energy ministry official said there were various media reports and private documents containing information on the potential oil reserves in North Korea, including one from China putting North Korea's oil reserves at up to 6 billion barrels.
The official could not elaborate on the source.

From the above, The US might just have found a genuine reason to go to war after all... cheesy

honeric01: Not under China's nose.

^My sentiments, exactly. China will not just fold its arms and watch a neocolonialist nation like USA defeat N. Korea thereby feasting on the spoils of war alone (imagine that amount of crude oil and mineral deposits...if true). If USA controls Japan, North and South Korea, that would be real bad market for China; as it's economy and sovereignty would be threatened i.e. China is better off with a communist N. Korea without worrying too much about intrusion, economic tussle and regional power, alas the same cannot be said otherwise...

yomalex:

what if that technological advantage is compromised, do you know how many times hackers have penetrated US government assets and companies in the last year?

the latest is hackers tracked to mainland china trying to gain control of US nuclear commands
the US relies too much on technology and that is its Achilles heels

You said trying? Ok, that is the keyword, you ONLY hear about what China is trying to do, have u heard of what other US sponsored hackers have done to others? NO, it's all but a secretive game, period. I was watching History or NatGeo sometime ago and they had this military weaponry documentary, obviously they where talking about military weapons, I'm no computer programming expert, but what I could deduct so far was US is transitioning it's defense system.

They and Japan developed a system that uses fiber optics, and can replicate itself like millions of times, making hacking literally useless. The way they explained the fiber optics system using light or something, so each time a hacker tries to hack the system, it replicates several million time per second (u know the speed of light), so obviously, if u spent hours, days, weeks, or even months studying the system and u tried hacking, all that effort is futile.

They claimed it's ONLY these two nations that have advanced so far with this tech which is equipped in some of their drones, nuclear systems, etc. They also claimed Computer Giants like MS, Google, Cisco, about 10 Large IT Corps where also part of the system to protect them as well. This is why I don't believe whenever US claims it was hacked,

America has had their assses handed to them a fair number of times.

You can remember Fidel Castro and how he repeatedly pwned American CIA forces against him in many glorious victories... And ended up outliving 5 US Presidents.
Google "Bay of Pigs" for instance.

Yeah, I know some will retort with "US Marines and CIA are two different things", but actually, they hardly are.

I think the American strength is grossly overrated.

That's not to say they probably wouldn't decimate the entire malnourished Korean Army... I'm just saying the US is not entirely formiddable.

Whoever wrote this is a lunatic.

This is what keeps American Republicans up at night. The idea of non-white people being better than them.

Notice how he thinks Obama will take the opportunity to 'declare martial law and control the public'.
He thinks China will 'colonize Africa and Latin America.' (This is called projection, lol)
He calls other countries 'Third World' countries.

You listen to this (probably very racist) lunatic if you want to. I'll stick with common sense and reality.
Besides, the US has planes and ships that can knock down missiles before they even leave the North Korean airspace. Look at this recent article: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323296504578395973656756876.html. It is about the US moving missile destroyer ships near North Korea.

North korea is just making noise. They want to get aid and easing of sanctions from western countries.

North korea leader Kim Jong-Un should know war with South korea or Japan or USA will result in his family legacy of being the supreme leader will cease to happen.

His official presidential palace, defence HQs and structures will be destroyed and flattened. He will probably be hunted down and killed by the Americans.

The Americans will likely use air power to accomplise their aim of destroying and decapitate the North korea regime. they dont need soliders on the ground.

The notion that China will join the fight will North korea is minimal. 1st. The war will probably be from the air from air sorties where fighter jets is used so will china shoot down American jets from Chinese tetritory over North korea which is not possible.

2nd. There will be no American boots on ground in North korea so any possiblity of the Chinese sending guns and weapons will have no relevant because there will be no american solders to shoot at.

If a war breaks out (no one is wishing that), Nuclear weapons will NOT be used by the Americans first. North Korea will lose and the Leadership there will be killed under flattered structures from bunkers to buildings.

China and Russia will issue series of warnings for both sides to show restraint. thats basically what they will do. Iran will probably blame the Israelis for everything that will happen and do nothing about it.

You sincerely think , America wants to go at it with N.K. How has is done in regards with the statements from Iran.

America is weak, and N.K knows this. Whatever, North Korea wants in foreign aid, i assure they are going for it the best way.

Look at this, N.K has already shut down its major source of foreign currency. I'd like to see the yankee do with a few day of fuel scarcity or power outages cheesy cry

The "small boy"(only fat man) in the country of North Korean is only seeking attention. He won't attack any country.AFter ranting all he would be hoping for is for countries like Russia or China for diplomatic solutions. He just wants to be taken serious or seen as a strong man.He wouldn't have done this during a Bush era...
China is more concerned about her economy than going to war for North Korea.
So the question don't arise for because America won't want a war because of the other countries it would affect and the economic implications.
I believe this is why America is preventing other countries from obtaining the nuclear bombs or materials...

careytommy: A lot of people under-estimate the technological and military superiority of the united states.

No doubt about that. But in practice it means nothing . It is very costly to stay there as number one. Many countries are a lot more efficient in defence spending dollar for dollar e.g Russia. America often fails to realize the limitations of what they can do as Afghanistan Illustrates. The Chinese are forcing them to maintain a spending regime they cannot afford. It will take its toll with time

The other thing is new technology has a way of making old one look stupid. Remember the VHS video player. Just as you can do with your phone today what the whole IT department of a University could not do in 1980 so too with technology. The US has been in Afghanistan 12 years. How far with that?America will not lose to North Korea but it will lose its world dominance. The way America fights its wars is not cheap.Financially it probably cannot recover from the last war in Iraq for 20 or 30 years. This all confirms that everything that rises will fall . There was no single point in time when the British Empire collapsed and it will be the same with the US. We should not assume that the US cannot split it can and could. It is a deeply divided nation and is becoming less "white" in its demographic. The seeds of destruction are often sown with those of greatness. If North Korea do not succeed BH are waiting........

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States said on Wednesday it will soon send a missile defense system to Guam to defend it from North Korea, as the U.S. military adjusts to what Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel described as a "real and clear danger" from Pyongyang.

North Korea has threatened a nuclear strike on the United States and missile attacks on its Pacific bases, including in Guam, a U.S. territory in the Pacific, since new U.N. sanctions were imposed over the country's third nuclear weapons test in February.

One of the most isolated and unpredictable states in the world, North Korea also said on Tuesday it would revive a mothballed nuclear reactor able to produce bomb-grade plutonium.
"Some of the actions they've taken over the last few weeks, present a real and clear danger," Hagel told an audience at the National Defense University in Washington.
