Wiki says Nigeria ineligible from 2015 lottery, too many Nigerians already in USA! The Diversity Immigrant Visa program is a United States congressionally mandated lottery program for receiving a United States Permanent Resident Card. It is also known as the Green Card Lottery. DV-2013: Poland again eligible, Bangladesh now ineligible; South Sudan added, eligible. DV-2014: Guatemala again eligible. DV-2015: Nigeria will become ineligible, as per the recently released 2012 immigration statistics.[5] 5 Likes |

Nigeria will not be eligible to partake in the 2015 diversity visa lottery to be commenced later this year. Those born in any territory that has sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States in the previous five years are not eligible to receive a diversity visa The term 50,000 "immigrants" refers only to people who immigrated via the family-sponsored, employment, or immediate relatives of U.S. citizen categories, and does not include other categories such as refugees, asylum seekers, NACARA beneficiaries, or previous diversity immigrants. First time Nigeria is ineligible since the commencement of the DV programme http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diversity_Immigrant_Visa 3 Likes 1 Share |

dahonestboss: Nigeria will not be eligible to partake in the 2015 diversity visa lottery to be commenced later this year.Of course that condition holds.Thats why the State Department revises the list of eligible participants in the DV lottery every year. But If the information is not on www.travel.state.gov, then its bogus. And,as far as I know,They are yet to release the guidelines for the 2015 DV program. 3 Likes |

The guidelines for DV2015 have not being posted they will not be posted until September 2013. However going by The visa statistics for 2012 Nigeria will still be eligible for DV2015 as long has no new immigration laws are passed and signed into law by the president. The total amount of immigrant visas issued to Nigerians in the past 5years has yet to reach to reach the $50,000 threshold. Check the immigrant statistic report on the www.travel.state.gov website 1 Like |

FYI, Wikipedia is wrong about this. I'm a Consular officer and I can attest that the threshold of 50,000 visas in five years has NOT been met in Nigeria. If there is a 2015 Diversity Visa program, under current rules, Nigeria will be eligible. Later: And it turns out I was totally wrong. But 2014 will continue as planned. 16 Likes |

@ Saintdeby dont worry. I have done a discriptive analaysis on the current rules as stipulated check the website (pdf) http://travel.state.gov/pdf/DV_2014_Instructions.pdf . Check page 14 paragraphy one;The countries whose natives are not eligible for the DV program (because they are the principal source countries of Family-Sponsored and Employment-Based immigration or “high-admission” countries) are noted after the respective regional lists. The countries whose natives are not eligible for the DV-2014 program were identified by USCIS, according to the formula in Section 203(c) of the INA. Check USCIS section 203(c) http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.f6da51a2342135be7e9d7a10e0dc91a0/?vgnextoid=fa7e539dc4bed010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fa7e539dc4bed010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&CH=act You will see that the 50,000 minimuim immgration influx is measured strictly on those countries whos citizens entered into US thru employment based immigration and family sponsored immigration not DV lottery entrance . So evendo Nigerian immigration into the united states has surpassed the minimuim entrance of 50,000 in the last five year. mind you that those migration werent due to family sponsored immigration or emploment migration rather mainly due to DV Visa. So unless new laws comes in place Nigeria will still be eligibke for dv 2015 All the best 1 Like |

Turns out you already know this, but: I was notified this morning that Nigeria will not be eligible for the 2015 DV program. As it turns out, we've issued more than the requisite 50,000 immigrant visas in the past five years. The 2015 instructions are up on travel.state.gov. |
