"Nigeria's senior team, Super Eagles file out against their Libyan counterparts at the June 11 Stadium, Tripoli on Wednesday, in an exhibition match meant to prepare both teams for upcoming World Cup/Nations Cup 2006 qualifiers.

"The Super Eagles' first choice goalie Vincent Enyeama has been denied a visa to the North African country because of diplomatic unease between Libya and Israel, where he plays for Bnei Yenuda. His place in goal will be taken by Austin Ejide, who has not had an opportunity to show his maturity in the senior team for a long time"

Hope this helps. I wonder what time the match will start today!

More Information From the Nigerian Online Newspapers:

"The game in Libya will give us a clear picture of those who wish to give everything in them to ensure we feature at Germany 2006." (link)

"The encounter is one of the build-up matches and the second in the series for the national team ahead of the Germany 2006 qualifiers against the Deserts Warriors of Algeria billed for Oran on September 4 and Zimbabwe's national side." (link)

"Although skipper Jay Jay Okocha was not on board it was not clear if he would make it to Libya on another flight or if he had decided to skip the friendly entirely." (link)

"Super Eagles defender Taribo West has exclusively told KICK OFF he did not make his much-awaited debut for English Champion-ship side Plymouth at the weekend so as to be fully ready for tomorrow's friendly against Libya in Tripoli." (link)

Am actually following the match live on AIT.

Nigeria Leading 1-0 courtsey Obafemi Martins after a through ball from Seyi Olafinjana broke the Libyan's defence.

The Match is been played at a relatively low pace. Really love to see Mikel come on in the second half.

when other african countries are playing portugal, france, iceland.........nigeria is playing libya

until we face a correct team before we can actually praise them.......they just tried

the defence is still not reliable.....yobo is becoming very vulnerable....bear in mind he caused rooney's goal against everton.....

we have a very long way to go

Libya played strctly defensively for the entire first half relying on counters only No14 and No15 before changing plans in the second.

The defense was nervous and harassed by Martins and Kanu who had too much time on the ball in the box and near.

Kara (15) wasted several chances after good set up passes from El Taib (14). Most obviously wasted chances were in the 7th, 24th, 32nd minutes.

Martins scored with only the goalie to stop him because of a collective mistake from the defense thinking him off sight.

Nigeria's talent and capabilities were evident in the first half and relied mostly on short controlled passes and possession. At times they had the ball for over two minutes before possession changed hands.

Three substitutions in the second half switched the game plan for Libya from defense to attack.

Six Libyan players featured for the first time and did well against such high quality opposition as Nigeria. This is one of the main reasons to consider the game a fruitful friendly.

In the second half Libya was able to excute build up play in Nigeria's half, gain more possession, and dictate more of the game starting from the defense to the midfield. The attack on the other hand was well handled by the Nigerian defense.

Not my analysis. The match was too boring for me to wrack my poor brain!
Re: Libya vs Nigeria (International Friendly) by Greatpeter(m): 11:56pm On Aug 18, 2005
What a match what a shame?

Are we playing Algeria in like manner?
Then we should forget about world cup.

The team i watched lacked fighting spirit.

I regret wasting my time watching it.

Re: Libya vs Nigeria (International Friendly) by Greatpeter(m): 9:14pm On Aug 19, 2005
Pintos I beg don't do this.
Nigeria's game agaist libya was a mess.
I don't know if you watched it.

Libya and Nigeria are not mates when it comes to football.

That means if we play England who Denmark beat then we should carry our baskets full of goals.

It's just incredible!
