OGSG AGAIN GIVES SUCCOUR TO THE FAMILY OF DEAD POLICE OFFICER

The Ogun State Government today gave an additional cash donation of one million naira to the family of Mr. Sunday Joseph Sunday, a police corporal who was electrocuted recently at Isale Igbein in Abeokuta.

Earlier during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased shortly after the incident, the State Government had made a donation of N.5m to help defray his burial expenses.

Handing over the cash to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye at the Oke-Mosan Governor’s office, Consultant to the Governor on Security, Mr. Olayinka Balogun said the donation was a fulfillment of an earlier promise made by the Government to continue seeing to the welfare of the family of the deceased police officer.

Mr. Balogun, himself a retired Commissioner of Police noted that the deceased was during his life time a gallant officer, assuring that as a responsive and responsible government, the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration in the State remained committed to the welfare and wellbeing of all officers serving in the State.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner of Police, represented by the Abeokuta Area Commander, Mr. Anthony Ekong thanked the Government for the kind gesture.

“On behalf of the Inspector-General of Police and the State Commissioner, we thank the Governor for this kind gesture. He is a police-friendly Governor who has been coming to our needs. He keeps to his promises and meets them at the appropriate time” he said.

Responding on behalf of family, an elder brother of the deceased, Mr. Emmanuel Angbulu commended the Government for standing by them during their trying times, noting that the family had been comforted by the humanitarian gesture received from it.

Aged 35, Corporal Sunday Joseph died last month while trying to rescue his 15 year old nephew, Jeremiah Sunday who had earlier been electrocuted.
