The iron and steel industry has walked a long way on this planet. Today almost all durable materials, especially industrial products, are made of steel. The main advantage of using steel is that it is durable and much more corrosion resistant than normal iron. The process of manufacturing steel is a complex one. Different kinds of alloys are mixed with iron in order to form steel. Steel rolling mills play an important role in the manufacturing of steel sheets.

These mills have been in use for a couple centuries now and in all these years the basic design of the mills has changed a little, though some technological improvements have been made regularly. Steel rolling mills are mainly used to transform thick blocks of steel into relatively thinner sheets so that they can be used for a number of purposes.
