Police say a man who fired a gun inside a ticketing area at Houston's largest airport has been killed after being confronted by a law enforcement official.
Shots were fired near a ticket counter at Bush International Airport just after 1:30pm on Thursday, sending people in the terminal fleeing and screaming.
Houston Police Captain Dwayne Ready said a man fired one shot into the air and refused to drop his weapon after being confronted by a Homeland Security agent.
Capt Ready said the agent fired on the man, but that it was unclear if he had been killed by the agent or had fatally wounded himself.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
The Federal Aviation Administration briefly suspended all traffic at the airport, but soon restored all operations except for those at Terminal B, where the shooting took place.
Airport spokeswoman Darian Ward said passengers were being redirected to other terminals.
Dale Howard was at the baggage handling area of the airport waiting for his sister to arrive on an incoming flight when he heard two shots fired from the floor above. A few seconds later, he said he heard three more shots.
"People were screaming. I knew exactly what it was - gunfire," Howard said.
Greg Newburn said he was sitting in a cafe area in the terminal when he heard two gunshots and after a pause, several more.
He described the scene: "It seemed like quite a few shots. Everyone was scrambling, running left and running right, turning tables up and hiding behind tables. Nobody knew what was happening. I couldn't tell where the shots were coming from."
