[s]about twenty minutes ago a group of heavily armed men attempted to high jack a bullion van conveying money through ebeano tunnel road ogui Enugu, leading to sporadic gunshots and exchange of fire with the police escorts and other law enforcement agents plying the tunnel road at the time. due to the heavy security presence on the road the robbers were forced to flee the scene. Residents and commuters scrambled for safety as the gunshots rang out but still thanks to the cops the robbers failed. this was the first time i saw the Nigerian police in action and am kind of impressed even after the duel two minutes later some sars operatives arrived the scene[/s]


well the news is clearer now, heavily armed men earlier high jacked a car with its driver when the car they were travelling in stopped. they were seen transferring a man whom they locked up in the trunk of their car, as they boarded the car and moved towards ebano tunnel the police officers escorting a bullion van plying through ebano tunnel felt threatened and opened fire on them shattering one of their side mirror,sensing the heavy police presence at the tunnel they ordered the driver to turn around and headed towards ogui road shooting sporadically in the air as they fled, after scrambling for safety later on i heard from some mechanics on the scene that two civilians were shot (a welder close to the traffic light at ogui road by tunnel junction and another passerby) , their condition is still yet to be ascertained i also learnt that some SARS operative are in pursuit of the car. so the bullion van wasn't their intention as earlier stated.
